It always makes me chuckle how these posts immediately become a Rem vs Savage debate.
I have owned several Rems, built a variety of accuracy rifles and had one of the nicest factory rifles EVER (Rem classic in 222 - what a gem). So I have no ill towards the brand and know exactly how these rigs shoot.... at least the old ones.
As was said, Rems of today are nothing like the Rems I played with that were 80's and 90's production. Which is a great pity but then, that can be said about so many storic companies that have fallen from grace.
If the rifle shoots well, enjoy it. Post some groups, share your story. We are supposed to be gun NUTZ's not gun SNOB's.
I have seen orig Springfield Carbine in blackpowder and orig barley corn sights shoot around 2 MOA at 700 yds. that is freakishly accurate for what it is.
I have also seen factory TIKKA's shoot back to back 3" and 4" groups at 1000m in less then ideal conditions. Someone was having a great day on the barrel machine.
I even got to score a perfect 30-3x 3ish" group dead center on the target with a 338 LM in a tactical SAKO.
Factory rifles, especially from Savage, have raised the bar on what out of the box performance can be. They still need a bunch of TLC and proper ammo but many can shoot.
1/2 min from a factory rifle isn't all that amazing anymore.
Dust off your toys and go have some fun. The group piced was not LH's best group either but we were too lasy to walk to the target in the snow.
