LNL AP major problems now: UPDATED

I have had mine for 2 months and load 32 S&w long pistol ammo. No real problems. A little tweaking at first but the manual told me how to fix. Get a lock washer to keep the powder measure from twisting loose.
Works great.

where do you put the washer on? on the bushing and if yes how? mine is twisting loose too every once in a while but the whole busing comes out

Been loading 45 ACP on my L&L, works like a top. Now I'm getting set up to do 38 Super. I'll report the outcome of my adventure here. Stuff is still in the mail so I expect I'll crank out my first 38 Super around the end of next week.

After numerous attempts and all kinds of adjusting of the pawls and the cam wire. I finally watched and re-confirmed that the brass was indeed hitting the spring and that was the cause of the tipping. Took the 16 shell plate and on the 45 angle of the lip that pushes down the spring I added some JB Weld to make the lip larger (like the one on the 45 shell plate) let it dry and made sure it would not interfear with anything else. Worked like a champ and it will now feed and load .223 and 380 ACP with hardly a burp (still have the occasional case with will not feed, but when I inspect them they ususally have some type of damage to the rim).

I have called Hornday and explained everything I did and why the stock plate would not work. They have new 16 and 8 plates on the way to me. I have seen pics of other number 8 plates that had a large lip like my 45 one, the guy and Hornady could not explain why. So in short, if your cases are tipping due to the spring not being down in the groove low enough for the brass not to hit it, then this would fix your problem. I tried it with super glue first and it worked, but the glue chipped off very easily. I sanded the lip and used JB weld this time and it seems to be holding much better.

Will try to post some pics of what I did.

Rim issues with the brass. I load a lot of range brass on my LNL and it can sometimes be an issue. if its really old, or been loaded really hot and hammered back the rim can get narrow and not feed onto the plate well. Check and see if the same cases screw up, look for wear/peening on the case head. I think this may be your issue, or at least a big part of it.

I do have the same issue and I am getting nuts about it. I have the same case feed without problem and then dont feed in at all.

But yes there are some brands that dont fit the shellplate not even if done by hand LZ or MMS for example

Just got the replacement parts today, which fixed my primer problem nicely.

Between 4 different retention springs and 2 different shellplates, the cases still don't feed properly into the shellplates.

I'm convinced the problem is that the groove on the subplate is too shallow, causing the spring to sit just slightly above flush. This causes the cases to 'wobble' going over the spring and lock into the shellplate while partially sticking out.

I'll try to get a video up later.

have/had the same problems like u. could not get the primer system to work until I got replacement parts. But now it works quite well

case feeding wheel is not turning with cases in but I know how to fix that now.

have the same issue with the case feeding. no idea how to fix it. I am loading 9mm and I had cases tip 9 out of 10 times with the #2 vblock. with the 6 vblock it is down to 5 or 6 out of 10 but still of course not acceptable.

I can also not trace it back to the case as the same case will feed sometimes and sometimes not

have u found a solutin yet?

Made up 500 rds of 38 Super last Thursday. Yep, the suckers do trip. I get one out of 15 or so that goes into the shell plate just cockeyed enough to need a tap to straighten it up. Other than that the press still runs smooth and I can adapt to the occasional brass ####up with a slight interruption in rhythm. I can easily live with this but it isn't right. :(
