Lockhart renegade semi auto conversion

Anyone else find all the outrage... misdirected? If the Renegade gets banned due to this modification, why not be pissed off at the government (and electorate) for creating and enforcing such a ridiculous set of laws that we must follow with zero recourse? You know, the laws that led us to this enviroment in the first place, where we need to find stupid loopholes. But instead you're mad at a machinist for providing a voluntary service? Huh?

I personally find this idea great. I wish more manufactures would flood the market with creative solutions and unique receiver designs while keeping AR parts compatibility and modularity. I'd rather it be a cat and mouse game with these clowns and keep escalating the problem and making noise, instead of stagnation, complacency, and coping. All the while they slowly and quietly inch away our freedoms. Nope. #### that. Legally modify the receivers and enjoy.

Thanks for listening to my podcast

If they get my cope rifle banned because of their own greed, I’ll be irate
It is the govt and RCMP who will ban your rifle. Save your irate for them.

Some can afford to 'make' a $2K+ toy that will just 'feed' the Polys and Lieb crowd's antagonism. Keep on F*cking the rest of us you ignorant Fuc*s.
Your anger is aimed at the wrong people. Bans are entirely the fault of our cr@p govt and their lapdog police force.

Clearly it’s the gov’s fault for the bans.

But it doesn’t help that these losers want to give them a golden basket of new ways to twist laws.

VRS is already sending over messaging to get Lockhart to stop with this endeavour.

Lockhart problem wants another big sum of interest free loans like they did with the gen3 uppers, and their rifles.. scumbags

I guarantee Troy's lawyer will be onto it right the way.

It is nothing great or bold about subverting someone else product the way it is by repurposing it for something that is completely not intended for that usage, and the worst part it is done on competitors' products!

This is no different from the famous swiss arms fiasco. Why do people in this industry keep on doing things like this to each other?

How about simply not touching other peoples' stuff and making own products?
Like why doesn't lockhart use his own lever, pump or straight pull rifle?

People doing the rcmp and lib govts work for them by trying to self regulate and gatekeep the firearms industry in Canada to avoid "rocking the boat" is peak cuck fudd comedy.
Agree.

The current government are not your friends and are coming for it all anyway. Might as well force them to table legislation or OIC again (or not and we have SA option) and make the swing voters upset.

We're on the verge of a recession. OIC ban or new legislation will piss people off and make Carney look like the same old Liberals.

This might be a viable idea if we didn’t have such an aggressive corrupt govt hell bent on disarming everyone and trying to destroy our country
I like the idea but like was said it will cause it to get banned plus probably every other pump/straight pull tactical rifle out there like the taipan because they will all be considered “variants”
For those who think it can’t be considered a variant remember they banned a plastic 22 that had a screw together clamshell cover that looked like a toy gun

Alright, I had hoped to avoid commenting, but too many points are being overlooked.

A central issue in this debate is the language of manufacture versus modification. If Lockhart "modified" his own product, does that qualify as modification, or as manufacture? When the work is applied to someone else’s product, it’s easier to classify as modification. But when it’s done to one’s own product, the distinction becomes far less clear.

We spent a lot of time examining all of these possibilities years ago. Create semi-auto adaptations of the MRA Renegade, the Troy PAR, additional uppers for the PAR, and even builds incorporating Lockhart trigger groups.

Our conclusion at the time was that moving forward would essentially open Pandora’s box.

The firearms classification system we all operate under is incapable of addressing such modifications. Pursuing this path would likely force the government’s hand—and this is not the government you want drafting an entirely new classification system.

I don’t accept the SKS as a gift from the Libs. They weren’t getting mine anyway.

Canadian companies aren’t the winners at all. They’ve been screwed six ways from Sunday by the Libs.

Everyone has to make a living. If they provide a service people want to buy, why shouldn’t they provide that service?

Canadian made firearms have been ####ty for the most part, but I buy every damn one because I can afford it, and I want to support them.

This semi could be quite good!
Accept it as a gift from god

To play the devil's advocate, I disagree. This is the perfect gov to reclassify. The status quo was a slow albeit "manageable" grind towards fewer and fewer available firearms.

A dramatic change is going to be necessary to wake people up. Might even be another kick in the ass to push AB out of confederation. Regardless, I have no issue with this gov doing anything.

The clowns at Lockhart have no skin in the game, just machining so no loss for them when the mounties ban the Renegade due to their modifications.
The thing is that they do have skin in the game. They're trying to bring their own straight pull bolt action AR style rifle to market, the Conspiracy straight pull. They just announced it last Thursday, the 28th. And that rifle is priced at the same price bracket as the MRA, and has a lot of the same features.

So not only do they have skin in the game, they stand to benefit if the Mounties ban the Renegade because of Lockhart's modifications.

I mean at this point what do we have to lose?
