Lockhart renegade semi auto conversion

This Government's "evergreen" prohibition policy has been made abundantly clear.
While the remanufacture of this manually operated rifle to autoloading is not specifically illegal, is there any reason to believe that the resulting rifle will not be classified as prohibited?
If someone wants to have one of these conversions, go for it. Enjoy it.
If the Government acts as it has in the recent past, a decision will have to be made.

We’ve been advised that there may be people using banned firearms, that don’t even know that they’re banned.

Thus, we’ve been advised to use our discretion.

I told a cop that his rifle was banned a few weeks ago. He had no idea. He asked me if I could repair it, because I’m the local gun guy.

I’ve also bumped into a few civilians who didn’t know their firearm was banned, and a few that hadn’t been aware of the new verification process for sales.

It’s a big mucky mess for those who don’t visit forums like this. These are good people too.

What a disaster.

And a well-planned one at that.

The purpose of a system is what it does.
Don't need LEO or government to police, when you got people that will rat out others. Had someone nearly ruin my firearm carreer over simply something I didnt know.

Think they didnt think that we wouldn't turn on each other? Oh they knew we would.

I'm a big believer in community based policing, but to be effective you've got to have the trust of the community.

Passing laws that makes, what was once acceptable, a criminal act is unfair and unjust. It's a paper crime when people should be able to know when they're breaking the law.

It reduces trust in the Police as representatives of the government - trust is something I've earned in my community through hard work and sacrifice.

Now community members may look at me with skepticism and distrust, because almost all of them own guns - undoing the gains I've made for their votes.

I get that this wasn't done to reduce crime, but they could have at least given thought to how it effects those responsible for reducing crime. But no. The thought was about getting elected, not the communities that are outside of Ontario and Quebec. Not rural ranchers and farmers. Not Inuit and First Nations, not about anyone but themselves.

It makes me want to pull my hair out.

I know more than a couple active LEO's right now at various agencies who have said flat out that they are not pursuing any of the OIC banned guns.
One officer I know pulled a guy over recently for a traffic stop. The driver had a Type 81, unloaded and unlocked on the backseat. Neither officer on scene seized it or made any fuss about it, they barely gave him a talking too for it. They just asked to see his PAL, verified it was valid and then told him to take it home and let him go without any ticket or hassle.
It doesn't seem like there's much of an appetite for harassing legal gun owners about their legally acquired property, when actual dangerous gun crime is up as much as 250% and the cops have their hands full dealing with that, among other things.

Depends on the cop...

I've honestly stopped caring completely. Anyone who feels the need to tell my something I'm using is banned is met with a very candid response.
