Lockhart Tactical Raven Platinum Edition, .223 Wylde

Whats the best way to order one , just from lockhart or from a retailer?

Depends. If you want to be able to load it up with options then Lockhart. If you want it faster, with whatever options the dealer selected, go with them. I got my platinum with top charging handle via G4C within a week of completing my order.

I wish this rifle came standard with the "extra" stuff. Most people want this because it has resemblance to the AR. Why not just make the upper more solid and without side charging. I doubt 95% people want that feature. Stupid that they charge for covers to hide the side charge slot

####### has a guy selling polymer cover/deflector for $30. There's a limited run of uppers sold separately that are sealed up with deflector installed, dustcover., forward assist. But there will be a serrated bcg in the future to youll need for forward assit to work. To bad it didn't come out like this but some like the side changing. Forward charging handlemwould of been nice.

I have an LTAC Raven built up from a Gold builders kit from TNA (20" barrel with a rifle-length gas system) and shot another 100~ rounds last night with a mix of American Eagle 62gr 5.56, Remington UMC 55gr .223, and XMetal 55gr .223. It turns out it doesn't like the Remington UMC 55gr and I had constant stoppages linked to this ammo. Most stoppages were failures to feed but I also had a couple of failures to eject, a couple of double feeds, and a single stovepipe. With the same magazines, I shot the American Eagle and XMetal and had no issues at all. It was frustrating until I figured out that it was the particular ammo that was giving me trouble but on the bright side, it was a bit of good practice for clearing stoppages.

Who said anything about having to use handloads for it to run proper? Have you ever Chronographed factory ammo? If you want the best accuracy for either shooting small groups or coyotes out to 400 yards you need to handload

I chronographed a lot of ammo and I do reloads too. Personally I don't like to reload the tiny 223 cartridge. PITA. Are you single by any chance?

I remember reading about some complaints on the trigger guard being pretty uncomfortable and digging into your hand, is that still a thing or have they fixed that on the latest gen ones?

Lucky for new owners, they have fixed this issue. Mine digs in pretty fiercely, I'm ready to take a dremel to it.

i was looking at the options available on the platinum, i dont understand the Mlok 2.5" vs 5" slots and how many i want? anyone with reference pics?

thanks!

Don't use a Dremel! Chances are, you will take off far more than you intend/need. Just use a Hand-File to take the annoying (and rather idiotic) point off of the Trigger Guard where it digs into your hand. It will only require a few passes to dull that point and you will notice a world of difference/relief. Then just touch up the spot of exposed Aluminum with some Birchwood-Casey "Aluminum Black" chemical blackener and you are back in business.

They're M-LOK picatinny rail sections. Number of slots obviously increases with length.

Thanks for tip, I'll definitely pull the file out first. 'Unfortunately' I have an FDE rifle, it's what's kept me from doing any modifications so far.

Looks nice. I've been tempted to grab one of the builder kits for a build with m16a1 parts I've had kicking around for a while, think I'll hold out for their new gen3 uppers to drop before I do. Eliminates the side charging but comes with a dust cover & brass deflector. From what I've seen so far the quality looks pretty good.
