Long Range Precision - When Why and How .308?

The factory class is also being developed in the US so there is interest.

Not sure how the class will evolve given all the semi custom rifles now factory made. I proposed limits which mimic the garden variety varmint rifle but didn't seem to get much response on US boards.

Hopefully, they will not simply make them factory rifles like McMillan, Cooper and HS which negate the whole point of this excercise. Time will tell.

Maynard, congrats on your efforts to kick start shooting locally. We all need to do something to get things rolling as best we can. Not easy at the best of times.

In Kamloops, the venue is relatively small and with recent growth, the event should be full. However, once you break down into F - BR and prone, and TR, there is not many in each.

In fact, F isn't divided into F(F) and F(O). All shoot together. Not a big deal since this is 300m but wouldn't be so good if distances went well beyond that.

Of course, anyone can do well with any cartridge but the perception of 'better' would limit some shooters if only armed with a factory rifle.

To get to a larger venue or larger event, travel will be necessary. Again, I really don't see this being a huge problem given what people will do for hockey or soccer. It's just not something they want to do.

Hopefully, we can change that...

You have done your part and more but we have to address the whole country which is why the DCRA should develop the plan and coordinate PRA efforts.

You are right about the time thing particularly as it applies to the young married. They are the most difficult to recruit. Even if they have the equipment to complete they have little spare time to be away from their young families. Maybe one to two hour sessions should be developed for them???

The easiest to recruit are the singles and the retired who usually have both time and money. Our efforts should focus more on the young singles because that is where the future of our sport lies. The newly retired with a whole week full of saturdays to fill are also fertile ground.

Having said all this I know recruiting a new member is not easy. I have been a member of the DCRA and BCRA since 1979 and in all those years I have been able to recruit only four new members from personal friends and acquaintances.

"F" Class has been a Godsend for the shooting sports and we should try to take full advantage of it.
