Looking for precision 10/22 build advice

Like I said! Vortex haters club without ever owning one! At least you’re honest. 🤣 I don’t care you love Leupold optics. I don’t have that kind of admiration for inanimate objects. I don’t make derogatory comments about things that I have no experience with. And now, the rest of the story lol. Have a great day Thunderhog
You as well my friend!…:)

Update for anybody still following, I ended up picking this up for a good deal so this is where I’ll be starting from.
Kidd 19.5” SS Bull barrel
Dar 22 receiver
Kidd 2 stage trigger (extremely light)
Magpul stock
Unsure of what bolt is in it, the fella I got it from didn’t know and I haven’t had it apart yet. (need some new punches if anybody’s got any recommendations on a decent set)
Threw a vortex diamondback tactical 4-16x44 ffp on it from another rifle for the time being.
That's a DAR-22 made in 2011. 6061-T6, not the later 7075-T6. Looks to be a factory Ruger bolt with brushed side. Trigger cross pins are Kidd but are missing the countersunk screws and it doesn't look from the pictures as though the previous owner countersunk the receiver to fit the screws which is wierd..

Barrel is actually a non-threaded 20" Kidd and is the heavy match grade SS barrel. When measuring the barrel you include the tenon going into the reciever. Kiss charging handle as well which is nice.

Jerry, Tony has a proprietary chamber reamer for his barrels. He knows his business like no other.

Here’s a picture of the bolt, there’s no stamping or anything on it.

Not a problem brother. Enjoy the rifle, curious what mods you make !
I’m currently trying to bed the stock but it seems like the magpul is a weird one. Gonna give it a shot anyway. Also free floating the barrel by getting rid of the supposed at the end of the handguard and I’m looking for a better long range optic and I’ll go from there.

The Magpul is a true 'Truck Gun' sort of stock and I wouldn't waste it with bedding. It will only ever be 'meh'. As a truck gun stick however it is brilliant and my favorite by far for its durability and configurability.

If you want to spend time bedding a stock go with wood or buy one with a rear hold down instead. There are a few on the market that use a screw to cinch it to the trigger pack itself and since you have those fancy Kidd cross pins your rifle has the basic foundation to be a rock solid plinker.

My two cents for what it's worth.

Wow that nice!...price not nice..for a 22 rf...just think what a custom one would be worth.
This Ruger factory built 10/22 is actually considered a custom rifle.....:)

There is almost no price tag a person can put on an actual self built custom rifle of any kind. If money is no object, costs can sky-rocket to ridiculous amounts!:ROFLMAO:

I may have to hold off until I find a good deal on an mdt

Remember what I told you about taking everything with a grain of salt. Many on here know and many are just blow hards or keyboard warriors. You want to know about 10/22 platform guns just contact Jerry. Dlask has never made a bolt for the 10/22 platform gun without a pinned firing pin! So the new fellah cant tell why he JUST KNOWS cuz he dont know. As far as bedding a gun, done properly it will never hurt in any way. If it does, YOU FUXKED UP. As far as going down a rabbit hole WELL This ones close to 10K. Dlasks machining is never that course. Ive bought close to ten K from them in the last 10 years and nothing has ever been that poorly machined.IMG_1276[1].JPG

It actually looks like a Kidd bolt. I have a newer Dlask receiver in 7075 and a Kidd bolt. Looks pretty much the same.
I thought it looked like a kidd bolt as well but I’m just guessing based off pictures either it fits nicely into the receiver and seems to work well!

It may look like a Kidd bolt but its not. If you look closely theres no cross pin to keep the firing pin from moving horizontily. Consistent ignition is paramount in rimfire accuracy. Its the main reason I prefer the VQ Comp bolt. It relieves the crossover charge handle and has a titanium firing pin going straight thru the bolt body like a centerfire. It doesnt get any better,I know cuz Ive tried just about everything to squeeze out the ultimate in accuracy.
