...I like the side receiver mount. But I don't like that you have to buy the super expensive rail to mount the mount on. These accessories can get pretty expensive so can anyone save me the clicking and waiting and searching and suggest who's got the best prices on this stuff around here? Thanks! I know there is an optic thread for this, but it doesn't mention the cost of any of these items or say who's got the most reasonable prices.

What a cash grab though... selling a mount rail for a mount, pfffft!

Ya I got mine from zahal and to bad they just had a 20 percent sale on Friday. They might still have something on though. Most places sell the old csa that your damn head is way off your stock just to see it. I think around 165 shipped for the mount and rail package

If you aren't in a rush Magwedge is possibly bringing a VZ58 rail to market like their sks rail.

I tried the low side mount rail and didn't care for it. The Magwedge rail should be perfect for my needs.

There is a thread going pop over there and express your interest so Magwedge knows folks are interested.

I'm not particularly interested though. I tried the sks kwik rail and had issues with the casings rebounding back into the feed path and causing stove piped casing jams. Didn't happen often only 5 times but once is too much for me. The rail needs more elevation to remedy that. Might not be an issue for most but mine didn't like the rail over top of the bolt and it defeats the purpose of the open bolt design. I think the kwik rail functionality really relies on how your sks throws the casings. Mine is one that throws them every which way once in a while, so occasionally I'd have a stove pipe jam.

I wouldn't hope to much for the mag wedge rail for VZ 58. Czechs and Later Slovaks were working on the project for more then a year and it would not function reliably. Too many jams of casings hitting the rail. This gun shoots cases vertical. If Czech and Slovak experimental army branch could not do it. It means it will not be reliable option

Is it just me, or should someone make a rear cover heavy enough that a rail could be mounted on top that wouldn't need to be re-zeroed after every shot? If that rear cover was made beefier, with a nice rail integrated on top, that would be a solution to the side mount retro (?). I'm not a fan of those side mounts. The optic needs to be closer to the shooter's eye to the rear of the receiver. A heavier rear cover, and I mean really heavier, would solve the problem of getting the optic closer to the shooter's eye. That "tin" factory cover clearly isn't going to cut it. And I have yet to see someone come up with a really stoutly built rear cover. (Yes, even the Zahal cover.)

.....?

if you have deep pockets, get the Zendl railed cover from GuneXpert.

$440 + $50 shipping + 7% Duty of $30 = $520

Yes, exactly what I am looking for. But that price....ouch! Oh well....

Anyone in Canada sell these?

Nope.

It's too bad because the Antonin Zendl line of accessories are superb. I have the mag and bolt release installed on both of my rifles. No fitting required 100% plug-n-play (edit: you have to install an early style mag/bolt release pin) The ergonomics are excellent. You can release the mag and bolt with just your index/trigger finger.

LOL ... I guess they missed something then because ours seems to work.

Two range trips, and 200 rounds with no jams ... I know its not a 1000 round field test but if you can go 100 rounds without a malf it should be good enough for sporting use.
