I just wanted to post this to prove to anyone that believes the M14 is only a military rifle... they are WRONG.
Here is my Poly Tech 2009 M305 along with a nice White Tail Doe that was harvested at about 70 - 80 yards on a trail in heavy brush/trees. I live in the city, but my parents live in the counrtyside, so they were acting as my guides.
It was the start of an evening hunt and the deer was laying down in the brush on the edge of the trees: as I stopped to shoot the deer it jumped up! Luckily, she stopped to watch my "guides" as they had kept moving on!
I did not have the time before the season to reload some hunting rounds for the M305 so I was using some Win 180gr Silver Tips (I know, a bit big, but shot groups 2" or less at 100yards): the shot was over a second later. We left the doe to run off for 10 minutes and found the doe dead 175 yards away deep into the trees: the shot took out a lung and the liver.
Picture taken outside in an open carport.
This doe dedicated to: My "Guides" (thanks for the help every year) and member m39a2 (for putting up with all my dumb questions).
For those intersted in knowing what I have done to this Poly, go here: My Poly M305 named "Betty".
