M14 Match *Saturday June 29, 2013*

Yes, and I'm well into Central Ontario. Mons is two hours if I push it.
Here's another thought - how about allowing M-1s in the match? Fathers and sons shooting together.....

Yes, I was thinking that as well and making it an M14 and M1 Garand mtch. Space for this match will be limited. My goal is for everyone to have fun and a full turn out!

We have been doing the NRA 200m M1 Garand match for several years, usually twice a year. We allow any rifle to be uses but Iron sights and optics are seperately scored. Some of the Iron sighted guns and shooters out shoot the optic sighted guns.

10 rounds standing in 10 minutes, 10 rounds kneeling in 10 minutes, 10 rounds sitting in 1 minute and 10 rounds prone in 1 minute. Inner bull is 6" and worth 5 points, outer is 12" and 4 points and the rest of the target is 3 points, total socre 200.
It's an interesting match and shows the difference from men and boys, expecially the standing and the kneeling sections.

Had considered doing it at 300 meters so we might just give that a try in 2013.

October 14 is a Vintage Rifle match at Winona (on QEW near Hamiliton). M14s and Garands fit right in. i will be shooting my newly tuned M14 from the M14 Clinic.

All shooting is on Fig 11. 100 yards and 200 yards, Deliberate, Snap and Mover.

PM me for details.

Four of us were using our M14s at the Vintage shoot today. A friend of mine has one that shoots very well, right out of the box. Still in the wood, only been cleaned.

Standing, at 100 yards:

This is what I could do, prone, at 200 with irons:

I'm curious as to the rough timelines that are being considered for such a match.

The reason I ask is that I've got an M305 sighted in and shooting decently enough, but also a couple others and a few friends with PALs who might be interested in coming out as a group if we could sight in the rifles beforehand. That might be a quick thing or it may take some time, depending on whether the Norc sights prove to be usable or require that I install mounts for optics.

The nice thing about this match setup is that the number of shots required and course of fire appear amenable to bringing out such a group.
