M14.ca CASM mount, installation and Range Report to follow.

I don't see much talk about this mount on here. I know a few people who have them but they have not really put it to the test.
I bought it in lieu of the ARMS 18 which was out of stock everywhere at the time. ARMS sent me a notice that they are available again this month, guess I'll need that 3rd M14 after all :D

Overall I had to add 1.25" of rise to get my eye where I want it when I bring up the rifle now.
Going to take some getting used to, but after only a few practice sessions I can bring it up and get my eye in the right spot pretty fast, and it will get better with time.

Ghetto cheek riser turned out a lot better than I thought it would. Built up layers of 3/8" foam plumbing pipe insulation laminated together with double sided tape.
Then cut to desired shape and fastened to the stock Red Green style. Had to do the digicam

First impression of a scoped M14 after only shooting irons...feels like an unwieldy pig!
That's partially to do with my desk job making me soft and weak, time to do something about that!

Loving the ARMS 22 QD rings, but man are the levers ever hard to throw! I literally cannot do it by hand all the way, hence the reason they are installed with the arms facing out to allow my to slip a small pipe over the end of the lever for more leverage. They are not staying on this rifle forever considering the CASM mount requires you to remove the rear sight, which make QD rings a none issue.

Like I said I'm going to put both the scope and the mount to the test shortly and do a report on this Canadian product.

Excellent plan!! Thanks for all the pics. I am considering painting mine green instead of the usual tan. I am also very interested to hear how this mount works out.

Any reviews yet on the mount?

So did you take it to the range and check out that scope mount? Feedback?

This is a Smith Enterprises M21 scope mount on my Norinco M14S. Scope is a 3-9x40 with Burris rings. I believe the rings are mediums, but I am not certain. The see through mount allows use of iron sights, and I can shot at up to 250 yards before the front sight is obscured by the ring cross bolts.

I'd say of all my rifles, this gun is the most pleasure to shoot. It's not a tack driver, but it gets a solid 1.5" group at 100 yards and is very dependable.

Nice

Good set up. Did you have the knurling done on the stock? Mine is new and does not have that :(
Also I bought a rubber Butt pad but the bottom screw is too short. Did you have the same problem? If not, what make is your butt pad. Is the scope mount alum or steel?
Cheers.

The stock is a USGI fiberglass and has the checkering molded in. Originally brown, but painted black with krylon fusion. Yes, the rubber butt pad made the screw too short. It was about 3 years ago I installed it, so I can't remember the details. I seem to recall purchasing a longer machine screw for one side (sling loop), and countersinking the other side hole to allow the existing "wood screw" to reach. The scope mount is all steel. I used loctite on the threads, and bedded it with jb weld epoxy where it mates against the side of the receiver. The receiver is bedded with jb weld epoxy into the stock, and has not been removed since. It's favorite ammo is 150grain federal soft point ammo. So far I can't improve on it for accuracy with hand loads. Some milsurp ammo is ok, some is downright lousy for accuracy.

I've promised myself I will do it as soon as I get back from vacation in 1 week.
Life has me by the balls right now, zero time for any fun stuff it seems!

I have 250 rounds sitting ready to rock. Hoping to dial it at 20m 50m & 100m in as few rounds as possible, then make an attempt at figuring out my clicks at 200m 300m 400m 500m.

No matter what I plan on a 50 round rapid torture test to see if a)the scope survives this time (first one failed) and b) if the mount holds true.

Promise to report back on this Canadian product.

Much better design on the stock Frank. Only 1 question...
Is there any way to bridge the gap between the triger gaurd & the pistol grip?

Very nice... I can't wait to try a BLACKFEATHER... have you tested it with an EBR trigger shoe installed?

As mentioned, I installed the peepless Gen1 CASM on my Mod 0 and managed to add workable flip-up emergency battle sights.
I remove the optic from the CASM, flip up the sights (HK from TROY) and I'm back in the game. No cheek riser adjustment needed.

Just so you know guys! :) the gentleman at M14.ca is fantastic at customer service. Extremely friendly and helpful and the price for what e offers is great. If you don't want to spend a load on special stocks/mounting rails etc then CASM is the way to go. The site has everything you need to know and is very helpful. I'm a little nervous messing around with my M305 sights to fit my incoming CASM mount. But he said he will go through it with me by phone. THAT is customer service. Something I think some candian gun/accessory dealers need to learn. It's great having good prices. But attitude and bad professionalism in customer service is good to come by. I would advise M14.ca any day and will review my CASM sight when it gets here! Thanks guys

God I'm dumb lol. I meant, good service is hard to come by and bad service seems to be the main output from some dealers in Canada. I won't mention names. Just saying that this company is good and I'd recommend them!

I can't answer questions about the stock in the scope mount thread guys. Call me direct at 250 721 3444 or simply email as below. Here is a photo of the CASM "MRD" scope mount that fits "between" the sight ears of your M14 rifle. The JPOINT series of red dots also offer a built in rear sight notch as a backup to the red dot. This is one cool little red dot mount.

Now, if only my anodizer would get these back to me and if I could fill my current GEN2 CASM (shown here in this photo) backorders as well, I would have a few more happy customers.

First ever photos of anodized CASM Gen 2 scope mount and CASM "MRD" red dot mount.
(Sorry about this photo, it is the anodizing approval photo I received, it is all I have right now).

Well it's here! Got my casm today. I must say, it was alot easier to install than I thought it would be. I am going to try make a video for people so they can YouTube and see how good and simple it is to use and install. Can't wait to mount my scope in the mail. I'll post most pics and give a range report when I have shot it. If my range ever gets reopened. Thanks M14.ca and frank!

Meant to post this here also, but will just link to the thread with the range report I did. The Gen1 CASM mount did what I wanted it to, and scope held up this time.
