;)

Any idea where else to get these mounts. I want on just like this. Fab doesn't carry them anymore.

-2007 chu-wood M14S from Marstar
-Sadlak lightweight airborne scope mount from Brownells
-ARMS #22 low throw lever rings from Wolverine
-NcStar 2.5-10 P4 scope from Marstar (edit-removed scope, wouldn't hold zero)
-Bushnell 3200 3-9 scope from Frontier Firearms
-Tac Pro cheek riser from Fabsports

edited to add:
Removed the P4 scope, as much as I liked the look of the scope on the rifle, it simply would not hold a zero.
Replaced the P4 scope with a Bushnell 3200 3-9, it seems to be holding up to the battering.

That stock looks freaking awesome. Can you supply some details of what you did to it? I assume you slimmed it down a bit as well as just refinishing it?

@Norton Very nice stock! I like that cheek riser, and have been looking at one myself. Did you have to place the bolts trough the hollow of the stock, or was there solid wood enough?

Went to my local store to get my usual magazines when I came upon this new one.

Great article about the M1A and it's scope mounts...

:D

Is that the Burris XTR 1.5-6x-40mm scope? I like the looks of it, I know its expensive, but is their any other scopes that have a similar look, but are a little more affordable, maybe with smaller turrets?

Yes it's the Burris XTR156. I'm shopping for it.
Seems it's the best bang for the buck. Clarity, reliability and practical. Anything cheaper won't be in the same class, from my research.

I just bought a 3x9x40 Bushnell for mine, works great! Im only shooting 300yds to 600yds max, so it suits me fine. ACOG's might be a good way to go as well.

Has anyone tried the Canada Ammo scope mount thats on sale? If so, what do you think?

That's a mount and not a scope.

It's also a generic chinese aluminum mount. They typically have very low performance.

Really, when it comes to the receiver mounts readily available in Canada, there are only a few choices I would even think of considering.

Namely (and in no order):

1) Sadlak steel of Titanium mounts (not the Aluminum one!!)
2) ARMS18
3) SEI if you can find one
4) one of the brookfield steel mounts, again, if you can find one.
5) *MAYBE* the new leatherwood mount. Don't quote me on this one though as I've not yet seen one in person, bu't at least it's steel.

The problem is the M14 receiver geometry is very complex for scope mounting and aluminum will tend to flex, not hold zero, and the single thumb screw on these works loose.

You can buy right and buy once, or....
