What the heck red dot mount is that?

Hey, just a heads up for anyone thinking of doing this. I just picked up a stock adapter with A2 grip at Target sports for $40. Marked as half off.

Any chance you can provide a link? Target doesn't seem to have one even listed, let alone left. Maybe my google-fu and search technique is off:) But I'd like to grab one!

Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't, I looked before I posted originally but didn't see them on there either. I stopped in there today looking for a few other things. They had a stack of at least 10 and were clearing them out at half off. Try calling. I'm not a fan of these new web sites many suppliers are going too they aren't very user friendly

Are you asking what I used my stock ? If so it was Krylon Stone paint with FDE and clear coat sprayed on after.

Hahaha, my wife and I had a lame bet of decorating these old wooden castles. I have no artistic ability at all.... We had a week she worked on hers night and day and kept upping the bet... Last day came she was so excited so in the morning I took my untouched went to the garage, grabbed a can of this same stone paint pilot drilled a couple holes to push in cupcake flags.... And the winner was at vote of 10-1 lol she was pissed at me for a week lol.

That stuff is amazing for adding texture to most things and then just add a coat on top. I also used it on a horse pedistal so the horses could stand on it and not slip off just that and some clear coat worked great. If I am not mistaken you can by a tan based version of the stuff too if you want a little more added color then just flat tan.

I used a fibreglass G.I. stock. drilled and placed roll pins latterly through the 870 adaptor and aluminum spacer into fibreglass to prevent the stock from spliting. Thanks to everyone before me for the motivation.

Also found a good/better material to use than the OP. Same weight as aluminum, stronger than wood.

It's a cutting board from the thrift store. Got the material idea from one of the other guys who did this. Not flimsy plastic, but actual Corian / Teflon. Hard as a rock, but easy to file, saw and adjust. Bonds well to the epoxy, and very unlikely to rust / corrode. If you're local, I have plenty of extra material you can have gratis, but it's not worth shipping.

Kudos to the other guys who did great mods. Now if I could just get duracoat across the border for the action and barrel.....

I still need to add the CTR stock and MOE grip in OD green, but here it is so far. Muzzle brake is metric threaded by extreme shooting in YWG.

Has anyone attempted this mod using a Mesa high-tube 870 adaptor? I'm looking at this idea, thinking that perhaps the high tube would be useful in raising the cheekpiece height so no riser would be necessary. Comments/ideas?

jjohnwm to your question. I have a 870 stock adaptor on my bench as you mentioned. plans are on the drawing board. Just have to find the time.

nope that's not the one
I'm pretty sure it was a rem870 adaptor but I could be wrong, can't find my receipt as it was a while ago.
here's a pic of one of mine. same one as OP's but I shave some aluminum off the front face between pistol grip and trigger guard.

Does anyone have the exact angle to cut the stock at?

I used a Mesa LEO 870 adapter. I recessed the face where I cut about 1/32" to match the adapter with a pencil grinder and then made another recess about 1/64" for the blank sling plate and then epoxied the sling plate in place. I put mold release on the adapter and epoxied it to the stock next. I epoxied two pieces of 3/8" 7-ply together to make the block in the bedding. Going to paint it next.

Also for anyone using the Mesa adapter, set your chopsaw to 15°.
