M14s in 7.62x39 coming to Canada?

For all the R&D and testing to make this option.. plus the changes in all the working parts to make them fit a new rim, short tapered case, etc....

If they would just put in the same energy and come out with a 6.5 Creedmoor version, think of them possibilities :)

NR semi with the capacity to reach out to 1000+yds... uumm, anyone else interested?

Jerry

Except that it will be built by Norinco so the chances of a quality barrel are slim to none. But it would be cool to get one with an appropriately sized bolt to install a quality 6.5 barrel with.

I personally have no interest in yet another rifle that they try to make eat 7.62x39. There are already $250 SKS's and if you want to spend more then buy a better rifle like a CZ858 or a Mini-30.
If you just love the M-14 platform and want another one in a different chambering then isn't it sort of blasphemy to run a cheap communist round through an American classic?

no way the BHO will ever work, reguardless of mag used. mag doesnt even come close to touching the tab, nevermind the follower touching it.

to run an aftermarket stock, it looks like one could get some correct thickness steel, cut and fold and attach to a stock to make it fit.

So, any interest in an M14 in .303? Unlike 7.62x39, there are no readily available semi-auto rifles in that calibre.

no interest at all 303 will not fit the action of a 14. plus it is a rimmed shell. plus its retardedly expensive to shoot .get a bren if you want a semi 303.

.303 is only slightly longer than .308.

And? If you're referring to rim lock, that is an operator error and you almost have to try to cause it. The M14 bolt face would need to altered, obviously, but an M14 in .303 is doable.

what mag are you going to use?
7.7x56 in a M14 is the best one I heard in a while . I really gotta ask why, and who would want it? ammo is double the price of 7.62x51 and there is no surplus 7.7x56 left out there to buy in quantity in this country.
7.7x56 is " slightly" longer than 7.62x51. how much is slightly?
50 BMG is also slightly longer than 7.62x51. maybe lets convert one to 50? I mean if your going to open the bolt face to take the 7.7x56 may as well just open it ALL the way to .50 BMG

I have never owned an m14. How often does one normally clean/disassemble the gun/gas system using non corrosive .308 ammo? I read about clinic fixed guns with "shimmed" gas systems. Does this complicate tear down cleanings and reassembly?
If you have to completely tear down and clean the 7.62x39 gun each time, will it be a huge pain in the asss? Is it worth it for such an inaccurate round?

I clean my personal rifles once a year, wether they need it or not!

You should never have to remove the gas cylinder to do a detail clean, turn off the gas, remove the gas plug and you should be just fine!
