M4 clones

I purchased a Sulun Tac 12.

The early batch had some quality control issues. The breech bolt latch on a lot of the early copies required filing to make the indent square - mine did. The amount of material that has to be removed is minor. Without the fix, the gun will not feed. With the fix, the gun operates flawlessly. There is a video that shows how to make the fix.

They all come with five chokes.

Mine feeds light skeet loads with no issues. The heavier Winchester Super X works perfect, too.

It is well worth the $660 I paid (shipping included).

Square might be incorrect. Look at the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0T9qj1NHxU

Quite honestly, it's rather murky if the M4 clones all come from the same factory or not.

I did like the 590A1 but I felt it was a bit heavy for prolonged shooting sessions. I ended-up selling it on the EE recently.

Well if the Canuck is made by Ermox and S&J say the Turnelli is made by Merak, then it seems there are at least 2 factories. Would be nice to see head to head comparisons.

Lots of advice about the art of saving up .... myself, I’m great at saving up, but my income level requires that those savings be reserved for housing, investments, etc.

I’d be interested in a clone since they seem to be occasionally in the $600-700 range, but I’ll take a wait and see approach and otherwise ... look at the reliable old pump actions in my more comfortable cost range.

Been happy with my sulun tac 12 to date. Only put 100 shells through it but has functioned flawless to date. So far performs beyond 600$ all in price I paid. Considering my personal intended use level for this gun I don't regret.

Was happy enough that I put on after market m4 charging handle and enlarged bolt release (the turk bolt release part is of lower quality vs benelli, even though I managed to tap, the enlarged after market release still spins due to inferior stamped multi piece part construction; not an issue if your upgrade has a pre tapped replacement included).

Other non deal breaking gripes, very minor, adjustable stock isn't as good (set and forget) and quick detach sling point on mine had an overly long screw installed in it (I shortened to work better with my sling).

You got it Brother. when i was younger i had a Baikel Under. used to see all the old timers with Beretta`s. Now that iam older i can buy the best and do. My M4 is a Tank. Iam a small engine mechanic and see this Knock off crap all the time. Nothing like the Originals. Seems like the market is flooded with this crap.

Couldn't agree more, the M4 is a thing of beauty.

Had the tac 12 and it worked but was too cheap feeling for my liking.

Here's the ultimate if ya got the $$, a M4 worked over by TacOrd.

love my clone

M4 clones don't exist in my life and never will, instead of spending close to 1000$ on garbage, grab a used M4 off EE, they come up from time to time for about 1700 - 2000$

well, I would disagree with you, I have a tan coloured Canuck operator, got it for 680$ taxes in shipped from go tenda. I have about 600 rounds through it so far (slugs, target load, buck, ) and its a savage shotty. she didn't like the slugs when the gun was brand new (even the m4 manual says to fire bird shot and buck for the first 100 or so rounds to break it in.) But once I broke it in, the gun is a monster, no malfunctions, eats every ammo I feed it, I can rapid fire it with different loads in it at once, no feeding issues and very very reliable and accurate
I love my M4 clone and I'm an exinfantry guy and do private military contracting now so I know weapons. I highly recommend the operator CANUCK, SHES A GOOD GUN!!!

Has anyone done a head to head comparison between the various clones? Something in depth, including take down, examination of parts, build quality and shooting.

Would be interesting to see how these various clones stack up to each other.

I found this video - it says "we guarantee our customers 10,000 shot life for the Tac-12" for 10,000 rounds and " total shot life of the Tac-12 expectancy will reach 50,000 rounds".

What is the guarantee here in Canada?
