M4 clones

Can you (as an owner of both a real M4 and a clone) tell me if the bolt pattern on the top rails are the same? I am looking at ordering a Mesa side saddle and don’t know if it will fit.

Thanks man!
Jeff

Nope.

I just ordered a Mesa rail and shot holder and the bolt pattern is different. I would probably have a competent gunsmith tap some holes for me. Otherwise NO DROP IN fit.

I recently purchased a Turknelli from S&J and it is in the mail on its way back for a refund. I took it out and it didn't feed once with a variety of shells, 25 in all. The extendable stock would not work without being banged on. I saw the youtube video that instructs people with the feeding problem to file away at the lifter tab on the trigger group and that is when I decided to return it. Anyone that took one minute to check this gun out could have seen these two problems. You get what you pay for.

Since this topic popped up in recent posts,
I was wondering if anyone could please post the manual or pics of the manual for Canuck Operator?
Please please please!!!

Thanks in advance! Someone

Anyone install the field stock with the TURKNELLI
Unscrew the pistol grip but it won't slide off the recoil tube as it has a AR buffer tube profile
The process is different to a benelli M4
Thank you
Gaurd

I have a Sulun Tac-12 incoming. Can anyone confirm how many rounds of 3" and 2 3/4" it holds? I keep seeing 4+1 and 5+1 and 5.9 of 3" etc, conflicting info. Is the capacity on the Canuck the same as the Sulun? Is the Canuck worth $100 more?

Just picked up a virtually new M4 Entry for $1550 so pretty happy about that to go with my Sulun Tac 12 and Fabarms STF 12, just wishing it wasn't restrcited as the bastards will now know I have it!!

I installed it, didn't like it. The wrist angle is wonky to me. You need to remove a small pin in the stock piece that you press to adjust stock length..

@Junction

Here you go. This is what came with mine.

While it is being called "Canuck Operator" by O'Dell Engineering, the actual manufacturer is Ermox and the official model name is XA-4.

I thought I could help some folks who are on the fence about taking the plunge for a Canuck Operator.

I received my new Canuck Operator last week and put it through its paces on Sunday. I mostly wanted to test it for function since our indoor range does not have AC. With the blistering heat, it was quite uncomfortable to spend any amount of time indoors, so I didn't shoot it as much as I would have wanted.

Fit and finish is quite good and other than a small blemish on the wing on the left side of the ghost ring sight, I could not find anything wrong with the finish.

The magazine tube allows for a true 5.9 shells (2 3/4"), being about 1/8" shy of the 6th shell, making it a true 5+1 with 2 3/4" shells, and although I did not have 3" shells to confirm it, it should also be capable of holding 5+1 3" shells.

Anywho, I managed to put 35 slugs through without a single hiccup. I used a mix of low recoil Federal and Challenger 2 3/4" 1 oz slugs, and some Winchester Super X 2 3/4" 1 oz slugs.

All of the rounds fed, fired and extracted reliably. Ejection is quite positive, especially so with the more powerful Winchester Super X. Felt recoil is quite less than with my heavier Mossberg 590A1 20", which was a pleasant surprise. I found myself firing shells in rapid bursts much faster than I would have dared with my 590A1.

All in all, for $800 before taxes (SFRC), I am entirely satisfied my purchase. I should mention that mine did not come with the plastic carry case (which I didn't really care for anyway), but it did include a manual, 5 Mobil chokes and tool, and a removable plug should you want to take it hunting.

Knowing what I know today, I wish I would have bought a Canuck Operator before buying my 590A1.

More fun to shoot the Operator ?

Anything particular about the 590A1 you didn't like ?

I am still on the fence about the Operator and its relatives the Sulun Arms and the Kommando (which, likely, all come from the same place).

Quite honestly, it's rather murky if the M4 clones all come from the same factory or not.

I did like the 590A1 but I felt it was a bit heavy for prolonged shooting sessions. I ended-up selling it on the EE recently.

Anyone field upgrade their turknelli to hold 5.9 3” shells?
It would be nice to get 6+1+1 ghost load of 2-3/4” , keeping it legal mind you (max of 5 3”)

I purchased a Sulun Tac 12.

The early batch had some quality control issues. The breech bolt latch on a lot of the early copies required filing to make the indent square - mine did. The amount of material that has to be removed is minor. Without the fix, the gun will not feed. With the fix, the gun operates flawlessly. There is a video that shows how to make the fix.

They all come with five chokes.

Mine feeds light skeet loads with no issues. The heavier Winchester Super X works perfect, too.

It is well worth the $660 I paid (shipping included).
