I thought I could help some folks who are on the fence about making the plunge for a Canuck Operator.
I received my new Canuck Operator last week and put it through its paces on Sunday. I mostly wanted to test it for function since our range is indoors and does not have AC. With the blistering heat, it was quite uncomfortable to spend any amount of time indoors so I didn't shoot it as much as I would have wanted.
Fit and finish is quite good and other than small blemish on the wings around the ghost ring sight I could not find anything wrong with the finish.
Anywho, I managed to put 35 slugs through without a single hiccup. I used a mix of low recoil Federal and Challenger 2 3/4" 1 oz slugs, and some Winchester Super X 2 3/4" 1.25 oz slugs.
The magazine tube allows for a true 5.9 shells (2 3/4"), being about 1/8" shy of the 6th shell.
All of the rounds fed, fired and extracted reliably. Felt recoil is quite less than in my heavy Mossberg 590A1 20", which was a pleasant surprise. I found myself firing shells in rapid bursts much faster than I would have dared with my 590A1.
All in all, for $799 before taxes (SFRC), I am quite satisfied my purchase. I should mention that mine did not come with the plastic carry case (which I didn't really care for anyway), but it did include the 5 Mobil chokes.
Knowing what I know today, I wish I would have bought a Canuck Operator before buying my 590A1.
