For my short range hunting i use a Sightron SIH 1.5-4X32 and for standard .22 range hunting i use a Diamondback HP 2-8X32. They work fine for me.
Was wondering what magnification you .22LR shooters use?
I have a CZ 455 FS and hunt grouse occasionally but for the most part remove pigeons/gophers at long range from my farmer buddy's property.
Leupold rimfire 2-7x28 fits nicely behind your 455 full stock rear sight and therefore can be mounted low. It makes for a perfect grouse set up IMO. I personally find it difficult to hunt grouse with 3x or 4x because I often have to make short distance shots and the view just gets blurry if there is no AO available. If you want to shoot small pests beyond 75 yd or so you will need higher magnification/different scope (4-12x or better).
Leupold rimfire 3-9x32 EFR might work for both situations as it has AO and fine duplex reticle but that scope is about $600 new and you have to fiddle with AO while hunting.
Show us some pictures when you mount the new scope on your CZ.
