Magnification for .22LR rifle?

I currently have an old weaver K2.5 on my CZ 452 American, but I have also used an Aimpoint 9000L with a 2 MOA dot. Low power and wide field of view for quick shots since I tend to use my .22 in the woods rather than in open fields. If I was still hunting fields like I did when I lived on a farm I would go with a 4X fixed or a 2-7x or 3-9x variable.

I have a CZ 455 FS and hunt grouse occasionally but for the most part remove pigeons/gophers at long range from my farmer buddy's property.

Leupold rimfire 2-7x28 fits nicely behind your 455 full stock rear sight and therefore can be mounted low. It makes for a perfect grouse set up IMO. I personally find it difficult to hunt grouse with 3x or 4x because I often have to make short distance shots and the view just gets blurry if there is no AO available. If you want to shoot small pests beyond 75 yd or so you will need higher magnification/different scope (4-12x or better).
Leupold rimfire 3-9x32 EFR might work for both situations as it has AO and fine duplex reticle but that scope is about $600 new and you have to fiddle with AO while hunting.

Show us some pictures when you mount the new scope on your CZ.

I've been using a BSA Sweet .22 scope on my Savage mk2. It has drop compensation turrets (36,38,40 grain), which are very precise. If you have a rangefinder by your side with this scope, you're laughing.

Thanks everyone for the input. I finally decided to go with a Bushnell Rimfire 3-12x 40mm with calibrated .22LR turrets. I like the variable range on this so should be good for grouse as well as farm critters at long range. I also liked the calibrated turrets which (after some target experience) will be nice to take the guess work out of 'hold over' long distance shots.

Also, after pricing around I went with CGN member/dealer 'PlainSight Solutions' and he beat all other prices ... good deal.

I am looking forward to receiving and mounting the new scope and will let you know my thoughts on it and pics once it is set up.

Thanks.

I have the Leupold VX-2 Ultralight 3-9x33 EFR on my CZ 455 and love its versatility. Very sharp focus down to 15 yards and at up to 100 yards I can usually see my .17HMR holes on the paper.
