Magpul; Art of the precision Rifle

Edit: also in regard to the horus scope, I have to say I was sold on the reticle after seeing the video. I originally thought it was way too much information crowding the scopes field of view, but can see the validity of it and quick follow up shots based on seeing hit placement. I don't think I would have believed it if I hadn't seen it in action.

What they are doing with it is the common way of using any FFP scope with a tactical reticle. And to get the same functionality, you don't need a grid that is as dense as the Horus. The Premier Gen2 XR, or similar reticles that Vortex, Bushnell and others are now offering will do the same job.

After looking through lots of scopes out there. I still prefer the NPR-1 reticle from Nightforce in the second focal plain. In a lot of cases, first focal reticles end up being either WAY too small to see on low power or WAY to big to accurately see what you're looking for due to the crosshairs blotting out the target.
As for Horus, I can see how target work would make a lot of sense and since the majority of the shooting a lot of us do is target the answer might seem simple but when you're looking for game and you have to look through a screen door type pattern in front of you, I think it's got to be THE MOST frustrating thing imaginable. To each there own but I know of a really nice US Optics scope a guy ordered and once he'd taken a look through it, there was no way he wanted it on his gun and it's now for sale in Calgary. Gorgeous scope though.

A bit general and vague on the basics of precision shooting (what i need to learn)....some different thoughts on wind calcs and some interesting talk on how to use traditional mil-dot scopes in new ways that I have have not heard about (what he called poor man's Horus lol)

Accuracy First does have a poor mans PDA...called the Whiz wheel that does the same thing as a PDA...i think $50

There is no other precision videos and how to's from what i can find, so this is some nice info to see and hear about. I wish Snipers Hide would put there stuff on DVD so i don't have to sign up for their online training, but i guess that is one way to avoid the torrent uploaders.

There's no replacement for time spent in the field though. Get out there with your gun and write down as much as you need to in order to understand what you need to do to make that shot at that distance on another day like it. My field book is full of drawings and distance calculations but at the end of the day if it's repeatable, you're doing something right. What I want is the target they're using. It looks like a simple set up but effective and that's part of it also. Paper doesn't ring like steel does. I think your target is partly your teacher also and the less you have to drive to see where you hit, there better you can become quicker.

If he's able to make the framework to hang the plates, I'll buy one for $100 and probably have a buddy or two that will too once I've tried it out. PM me.
