Makasi MK15 Canada live firing review part 1

Honestly, i feel this is best case scenario. I'd rather have a slightly under gassed piston gun that i can open up if needed, than an over gassed one. Easy to tune an AR with buffers and springs, but with no such option here, this is preferred.

Hopefully one of the Canadian machine shops will be working on some aftermarket upgrades like adjustable gas blocks with more fine tuning adjustment.

A suppressed setting cuts the amount of gas/pressure being fed into the system since the suppressor (unless it's a flow through design) adds pressure into the system. Would make sense that was GT thought was unsuppressed is actually the suppressed setting and vice versa.

I just followed the manual. Maybe that’s why real men do not read manuals especially the IKEA’s….🤣

No, they need to put the manual PDF into Claude and prompt on page # in the picture exchange the words "suppressed" with "unsuppressed", vice versa. To be honest this is a costly oversight on their part and probably generated a lot of un-needed frustration and warranty calls. Next put a big piece of warning in the box and tell people how to break in - Warning: rifle needs break in. Use full power ammunition for the first 20 rounds.

These two almost zero cost actions will save them a lot of money in the warranty dept and generate much better goodwills and therefore sales.

My 10,000 dollars consultant advice here, AI probably will just use 2 tokens.
 
Another interesting bit I found out is that the gas system is essentially a copy of the Brownell BR180, with the hairpin.

And it appears that Brownell has a gen 3 design that replaces the pin with a cap - the main issue is not that the regulator will come loose, it is the opposite the regulator is stuck with carbon and it is difficult to turn with a screw driver. So they came up with a design for more leverage.

There are only two settings for the gas.

You could try both, normal should have more gas (enough to make the rifle run "correctly") and suppressed will hav less gas (so rifle may not run correctly).

If the rifle doesn't run on either then something else is wrong too.

Stock AR match trigger - If you do not mind the possibility of disconnector strike and breaking things. I will test it out if some one send me a set of giessele Match trigger but I am ok with stock using my own money

I will suggest trying the one designed for mcx instead of stock AR, if so inclined to spend money

According to the fellow who posted his Makasi on YouTube recently, he was able to put in a Timney aftermarket trigger, so I expect a Triggertech should not be an issue. You may want to wait until the first NRs Makasies arrive in Canada, as odds are someone who bought a Makasi already has a Triggertech waiting for it.

I wish I had the money for a firearm, let alone a trigger. I remember people used to carefully sand down their WK triggers to smooth things out, or apparently you can dryfire many times, preferably with snap caps, to get the same effect.

Regarding scraping your knuckles on the bolt release when using the charging handle, did you consider adding some black silicone tape from Home Depot or Amazon to the exterior of the bolt release?
