Making the T97 more Reliable (Update #118)

Pretty sad that you have to do this to a new gun, but if its work I would be doing this to mine if I had one.
FTF are unacceptable, there is obviously some engineering design issue. Between a working modified rifle, and a non-working unmodified rifle, the choice is made quickly.

Which thread is that in? Can you post a link please?
That and better sights are the only mods I'm interested in.

I can't find it now. Does anyone else remember seeing a photo of a homemade ambi mag release?
I recall it was unpainted silver steel colour and had a bolt welded to it.

The one I recall seeing was different from the Pooker and SHARK version. This is theirs.

This is the one I was originally thinking of.

The Pooker and SHARK version tilts up/down, while the one from Atillonz buddy rocks forward/backward.
I love the creativity here! I bet the Chinese designer is wondering why he didnt come up that. :)

Ya. They took a gun that was designed to fire an obscure chinese round, and made it shoot a north american round with a totally different magazine design.

Look at the issues that occur with a 7.62x39 AR. Same idea.

FTF on LAR mags which is being reported to happen but not on other mags at least from the T97 threads.

Could you describe the jamming? How did it happen? Which side did the round come from in the magazine?

It was always the 2nd round on one of my lar mags that would jam. I'm not sure why it does it will this one particular lar mag but I have noticed that the mag has more front to back play when seated in the rifle than my pmags.

I had exactly the same problem, second round, feeding from the left side. I fixed it by removing more material in a specific way. I'll post up some info once I've tested it out. But the point is to file the ramp until the shoulder of the bullet case does not touch the feed ramp at all. This will allow the bullet to go straight towards the chamber and not bumped up by the feedramp via touching the shoulder. Pics to be posted soon.

Everyone please be aware, cutting into the aluminum like that bypasses the surface hardening/protection process of the anodizing, your compromised metal will erode further overtime.

the part (feed ramp) that is being cut into is steel, not aluminum

well the feed ramps on my AR are un protected steel, so why does the steel on these guns need protection? last i checked, the copper plated bullet tips, brass or even steel cases are softer than the steel of the feed ramps.
