Making the T97 more Reliable (Update #118)

Bevelling the feed ramp so that the feeding cartridge directs towards the hole also helps the feeding.

This T97 now feeds from PMAG 100% reliably at any angle(Pushing the mag up, down, sideways etc etc)

Also feeds perfectly with LAR-15 10 Rounders.

That's really ###y... I'm actually too chicken to try though - is it literally just taking a rounded file to the feed ramps?

Also can you take a pic of what it looks like with a mag inserted?

No need to be scared.

I used a "half circle", or closer to a curved file to do this. As for the angle, simply use the the rear of magazine well lip as your other contact point for the file(put tape over the magwell or the file to avoid scratching), the. File away.

File until the top edge of the feed lip is close to a knife edge(or stop slightly before that), then finish with sandpaper. I cut a small strip of sand paper and sanded the ramp using the pressure of my index finger.

Pics to follow soon.

Actually, the feed ramp is a big issue. The height of the magazine catch is too low as well. If the magazine catch can be 1-2mm higher, the whole feeding issue may be solved.

ah i see, i was unaware of the catch being too low, which i assume also sets the mag lower making the feed ramp mod more important. however thats besides my point, this information would be valuable to the manufacturer. i hope NS will request modifications from the factory on future builds.

My tapco mags fit, snugly mind you, but they fit, also dont drop free. You can see that any metal mags i have fit perfectly, and sit where they should in the magwell. Plastic ones, sit low.
I am also nervous to start filing away metal, i will test it out before i do anything.

Should post these feed ramp mods in the CanAm thread. They are going make sure the gas port over drill and other issues get corrected on their version.
Pretty ridiculous the amount of issues with these guns. Even the fan boys rifle don't seem to work for ####! Lol

From what I gather these are minor issues. My T97 works great, I won't be changing a thing.

I'm in the same boat. I drank the koolaid and bought one the other day. I think mine's #209. No over drill. No feeding problems. More accurate than I thought it would be. The build quality is 100x better than I expected. It's solid, and really well put together. I've now put close to 500 rounds through it with zero issues.

What mags are you using?

mine is 271, and i took it out yesterday and fired it. worked flawlessly as well. no mods made, no issues. i have not stripped it down yet, but when i do, i will see if there is a gouge in the BBL.

So maybe I'm just a "file" newbie - but I just bought a set of steel files from Rona last week - are all files created equally or is there a specific type of file best suited for this mod?

Maybe I was half awake - and I feel dumb for asking - but when filing, are you supposed to apply a lot of pressure, or just press down lightly? Are you supposed to use a sawing motion that is fast or slow? I was going at it for about 20 minutes and didn't make much progress (and what I did looked fugly). It still chambers and extracts snap caps no problem - but I don't think I got it to the point that fixes the issue with the FTF's from steel mags.
