Mannlichers....

Custom rifle built by a known custom gunmaker, with a Williams rear sight? Very scabby.

Yep. It does date it a bit...I hate those cheap-looking Williams sights, but you do see them on some pretty good rifles from back in the day.

Whether or not that exaggerated beavertail forend "works" would depend on how it fits and feels when you pick it up. And I don't think that is happening for me anytime soon.

Myself, I don't like the design of the trigger on the Mauser 66. I suppose its odd off-to-the-side placement is necessary because of the telescoping action (designed by the famous German target shooter Walter Gehmann to decrease lock-time.)

Based on the picture a five legged one

The "leg" in the lower left of the bag is actually some sort of strap buckle.

Roe deer get bigger west to east. Smallest are in Western Europe and the biggest are in Siberia. (Likewise with Red Deer and Wild Boar.)

The smallest deer I ever shot (with a M-S Model 1903 6.5x54 fullstock carbine) was a Texada Island Blacktail...also probably the most tender.
