Mannlichers....

The "leg" in the lower left of the bag is actually some sort of strap buckle.

Roe deer get bigger west to east. Smallest are in Western Europe and the biggest are in Siberia. (Likewise with Red Deer and Wild Boar.)

The smallest deer I ever shot (with a M-S Model 1903 6.5x54 fullstock carbine) was a Texada Island Blacktail...also probably the most tender.

Like shooting dik dik in Africa. - dan

Just saw that Nordic marksman has the Steyr Zephyr fullstock in 22lr,22 mag and 17cal back in stock.I have one and like it alot

Do they have a showroom or are they on-line only? I have written them several times, asking to visit in order to to pick up and select items (the photos of the Steyr Zephyr fullstock are all the same, not of the actual rifles). I have never received a reply.

Why they don t have a show room per day with things on display you can go in and pick the gun you want, I did that when I bought my Steyr Zephyr fullstock. At the time I bought mine they had only six in stock and I drove the 2hrs there and back to make sure I could get the best one in the bunch. When I got there they had all six out waiting for me to make my pick.I would give them a phone call as that’s the best way to get a hold of them and make an appointment to go to their shop and pick one out. They are very accommodating that way

Thanks for the information.

Two Original Mauser Sporters Model S in 9x57 (darker wood) and 8x57.

I cleaned 100 years of dried oil off the 9mm. It nicely preserved most of the original wood finish and the blue. It is a bit more more worn than the 8mm, but not by much. It was also manufactured slightly earlier, I think around 1922. And the 8mm later, possibly just after 1924. I base the dates on the serial number dating in Speed's Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles book, as well as the approx. dates for the change in proof marks (BU vs BUG.) The 9mm has the earlier Mauser emblem on the (noticeably straighter) buttplate, not the Mauser banner like on the 8mm with its more crescent shaped buttplate. Model S carbines weigh approx. 6.5 lb., quite a bit lighter than their other fullstock, the Model M.
