I used to like those Steyr-Mannlichers. Sampled several, even sucessfully hunted with a few, but never kept one. Those "non-breakable" plastic magazines nearly always broke: fairly sturdy when empty, but when heavier...loaded with cartridges...if dropped onto any hard surface, they tended to break at the corners and they cannot be repaired. Also the plastic trigger guard assembly itself would often develop cracks. Plus, I disliked the tight grips that let the rear of the trigger guard snap back onto your fingers gripping the stock (maybe only a problem on the "Professional" model, which would also develop cracks around the bolt handle area.) All that said, a Model M in 6.5 with engraving and woodcarving is still very nice.
