What is the caliber Rob? You sure find some beautiful rifles.
The caliber is nothing special, just a 30-06.
When I got it on trade, it had a "patina" of dust and dried oil, but it cleaned up nicely. It seems to have hardly been used with a perfect bore and more or less 100% blue.
It is accurate with just ordinary factory ammo and the stock fit is great.
Also, the Steyr-Mannlicher has a particularly well-designed DST.
I had a 6X S&B on it for the range, but it now has a Swarovski 1.5-4.5x20.
It came with Steyr factory Q-D rings, but I stored them away. I normally use Talley rings and bases, mostly just because I have so many, and it does simplify changing scopes. Talley also has good customer service. When I first got the Steyr and wanted to mount a scope, I emailed Talley for the correct Steyr-Mannlicher Model M scope base numbers, and they replied within the hour. I looked through my random assortment of bases, and happily I had them.
6 rear-locking lugs and a recoil lug at the rear of the receiver. Definitely not a Mauser
