Marlin 795 opinion please

To solve the infamous "scope slide" issue, just use a bit of dollar-store clear-coat nail polish to the tip off rail and attach the rings before it has a chance to dry.

Seems like a good idea, personally I've tried so many things with mine, lock tight, modifying the rails, drilled and tap the rings to put a screw lock tighten on the receiver and still it moved. what you are mentionning make me think that the weight of the scope might have an impact with different solution. mine weights 16oz which I believe is pretty light maybe it'll be more affected than with a heavy scope...or maybe the velocity of the bullets.

Anyway my ultimate solution was to drill and tap the receiver, put picatiny rails on it and that's it, enough messing around for 2 months back and forth to the gunsmith. It didn't cost much as I paid for other mods that were not working so he didn't charge me for the rails and rings.

Love the gun, hate the trigger, way worse than my 40 year old Marlin,I think they had a contest to see who could come up with the worst trigger and awarded the contract to the winner....how hard is it to install the spring kit?

my go to fun gun. trigger can be worked, very carefully, to make it better, not great but better. try different ammo to see what it likes. stay away from high velocity, not designed for it. may not cycle properly with low velocities. parts are available, but they don't break easily. easy to clean, take apart. scopes tend to walk on that aluminium dovetail.a nice .22 for the money.

Mcarbo makes a sping set for them which almost on par with some older rifle trigger systems, add to that stoning the sear until polished or a DIP guard and trigger they are more then acceptable.
You have to buy the MEDIUM Profile UTG. You must have the HIGH Profile.
Or take a fine tipped center punch and punch the rail on either side of one mount or the outside edge of each with 10$ bargain bin mounts and I doubt you could get them to slide or walk even on purpose. Which is what I did to mine when i scoped, and it has yet to walk in two years of use for plinking, squirrels, gophers, and teaching new shooters.

To solve the infamous "scope slide" issue, just use a bit of dollar-store clear-coat nail polish to the tip off rail and attach the rings before it has a chance to dry. You'll have a good ten or fifteen minutes to get them in place before it dries and hardens.

The advantage of using crappy dollar store clear coat is its thicker and gooier than the nice stuff your wife is likely to have in her bag of magic tricks, and takes longer to set and harden, which gives you more time to get things in place.

No one use loktite n emore?

No one use loktite n emore?

Not thick enough to prevent movement along the tip-off rail, and not a fan of staining the top of the receiver either blue or red (depending).

Locktite for the threads of the screws, sure, just not where it's visible along the top of the receiver.

The 795 is a really nice rifle. Reliable, accurate, gets very good reviews.
There are at least 2 dealers here that sell the 25 round mags. Bullseye Sports and High Caliber.

Hi{priced} Caliber has them for $40..Bulls eye only about $24. Most items at HiCal are WAY overpriced. Bulls Eye is out of stock atm though. I have a Marlin 995, it's seen allot of use & its a great rifle.

Is the trigger spring replacement kit available in Canada ?if it works, that would address the only issue I have with this rifle but why the company continues to manufacture rifles with such a heavy trigger,I don't know..

'Why do they continue making heavy triggers? ' Lawyers ? Can't be....many other 22's have way better triggers...the 795 wins the 'worst trigger ' contest ,hands down...the trigger on my 30 year old Marlin 22 magnum is INFINITELY better, light, crisp ,no creep ,so they CAN do it...
And if 'lawyers' were the reason for the heavy triggers you can be sure the same lawyers would be suing the companies making replacement spring kits...so it seems to me as long as the consumer continues buying the existing 795 with the heavy triggers ,they won't bother fixing it...but you can be sure if the sales plummeted, they WOULD fix it

well its a 22 trigger does not seem that bad to me but then again i love my SKS
Point is great price great accuracy out of the box and reliable
and the nail varnish works
on the rings for me too
Cheers

Yes they can I've ordered from them and it took about 6 days to get my house, including the time spent in customs. Much crisper trigger release and lightneed pull weight, do a light polishing on the sear and you'll be extremely happy with the results.
