MDI SLR receivers come loose.

I respect your opinion even though I disagree with this narrative. BCL may have changed their prices to keep from going under. There are many gun manufacturing companies who are struggling to stay open. If the parts they make are truly made in Canada there is little room for them on profit.

You hit the nail on the head, I believe that they did change the price to keep sales up and ultimately avoid bankruptcy. With that said, there was at least $300.00 in profit, plus whatever they’re making now selling them at $1,550.00. As for making everything in Canada and still being profitable? That’s where corner cutting comes in.

Good, cheap and quick to make. Pick two.

Yes, I am bitter to have been charged $1,850.00 for a gun that now sells for $1,550.00 (or less). A lot of people weren’t thrilled. It was enough to make me swear off the brand.

Wanna sell me your upper? Since you think it sucks so much you have no problem selling at a discount right?

Ill sell the upper and lower for $800, like I offered in trade value vs a Sporter. It would be illogical to sell the upper only, since then I have ZERO functional firearm, but Im sure youre intelligent enough to realize that I wouldnt logically sell just my upper.

At least it shoots now, with a grover nut and loctite.

Lots of speculation, pretty thin on facts, like all of these threads that degenerate into a Witch Hunt...and that's what they pretty much all become. A new item/design/widget has some problems that need to be worked out, welcome to planet Earth! When has it ever been different? Allow me to remind all of you that you are buying a few parts that may not be completely compatible with your parts. An example being the tight pin holes, I'd put money on it that a large number of us have LPK's that came from the same place. How do we know that the problem isn't with a slightly oversized pin supplied with a VERY common LPK? We don't, and unless someone starts posting pics of pins and calipers, it's open to speculation. So if you're feeling angry about some other guys SLR set, sit back, have a Downer, Toke, Whiskey, or whatever allows you to relax, because it appears that other than a couple of bolts that need some attention (and easily rectified for a few $$) most of these are going together and working fine.

If anyone is so disappointed in their SLR set that they can't stand to look at it I have a low mileage Battle Rifle and a few other items I'd gladly swap for it.

I have a early production SLR receiver set, I measured the bolt catch pin hole with numbered drills, it was way too small. Making a roll pin hole the correct size is not difficult, just look up the required sizing in a machinist handbook, or just google AR15 engineering drawing. The correct sizing is easy to find. MDI just didn't bother with that step.

Agreed. You can tell how socialist our country is by how angry people get when a business makes money selling them a product that was SPECIFICALLY designed and manufactured to cater to their idiotic country.

Timeline:
Everyone - "NR TAX! BURN THEM!"

Everyone - "WOW BCL is charging under 2k for a nr .308? This is a milestone. That's almost 1k cheaper than the cheapest option."

- *American company uses economy of scale to undercut bcl*

- *bcl is forced to lower prices in order to stay competitive*

- Everyone: "BCL was charging the NR TAX! BURN THEM!"

Dont forget there are alot of people at bcl getting a paycheck too.
We suck.

I thought the BCL was actually cheaper than the complete Stag?

So how could they be forced to lower their prices , to become competitive, if they were already cheaper?

Cost VS quality ratio for each individual firearm comes into play.

If the cost VS quality ratio becomes too high on firearm A people will choose to buy firearm B instead, even if firearm B is more expensive.

Simple economics.

Ya I get that.
I was just saying , the only reason BCL lowered their price , is because their product is inferior. Not because an American company undercut them.
The question is, why are their product inferior?
Same matarial,right?
Couldn’t have they made the same product as the Stag? The only noticeable diff I can see is ceracote verses anodizing.

They were cheaper than the Stag and couldn’t sell any more.
So now that they’ve dropped a couple of hundred more off, business as usual:)

BCL won't formally confirm the material used in their receivers although it is suspected to be 6061 billet aluminum. Stag on the other hand is 7075 forged aluminum.

Combine the softer aluminum with the lack of anodizing and that is what makes the BCL the inferior product. I won't even get into the whole QC thing....

But ya, I agree with you, the only reason BCL lowered their price is because their product is inferior.
