MDT TAC21 Chassis for Savage

Well, let's hope they get it figured out.

Anyone know how long Savage has been using the trigger guard bolt release?

Savage 10 FCPK. Lost the ability to remove the bolt, and Had to file down a bit of metal off the bolt release arm to make it fit. Beside that it looks and function awesome. Also I run a rifle basix trigger for all the obvious reasons...

Comes in a 15.02 LBS with ADM mount, scope, mag and Atlas bipod or 11.6 LBS naked.

I want to do this with my 111 LRH in .338LM soo badly! I hope they come out with a Tac-21 for long action savage soon! :D

I received an email today from Maarten at MDT, he says they are working on model of the tac21 for trigger guard bolt releases. He says by late January they may have something that works! So I'll be holding off until we get more news.
We have completed our review on this, and unfortunately there is just no way to make this work. We looked at a conversion kit, but this unfortunately will not work either. At this point, we will be limited to the rifles with the bolt release on the side.

Mine works great, I just follow Dilligafs guidance, THANKS AGAIN!!
And now to take my bolt out, I just undo the back of the chassis, one little swing lever, and remove it.. Its pretty easy, easier now that when I had to hold it awkwardly and do the front release lol

TAC21, I am still doing a write up and will send you some pics, but I finally got this together and out to the range last week.
With a simmons $25 dollar 3-9 scope, it took two shots to sight in, and then 7 shots that TOUCHED at 50 yards. Now this was all the space I had to shoot it in at the indoor range at the time, but Hot Damn, You make one fine chassis!

Would like to see a nice write up on how to make it work. I'm not very "fabrication inclined" so I hope it's easy. Stills debating it, since this is my hunting rifle.

I'm incredibly bummed. I was holding out for a TAC 21 chassis over other options like the XLR.

You should take a look at how these guys do it-- they have an option that support Savage trigger guard bolt releases.

Oh believe me, I am pretty much useless when it comes to anything more than a hammer and a screw driver, but I was able to find someone with a belt sander that I took off the littlest bit from the front, and then I just used a hack saw to cut off the little trigger release bar. That part wasnt needed, but I just ordered a new sear from Gretch outdoors so that way if I ever want to put it back into the original stock, there wouldn't be an issue.

However, one might be able to just order a plain sear for a savage 10/110 that has the side bolt release, and put it in and not have to do any modifications..

I was just impatient and figured I'd make this one fit, and finding a replacement was future me's problem to wait for it lol

It really was as easy and taking down the angled corner with a belt sander, I am sure it could even be done by hand by someone more patient than I. Dilligaf posted in his build thread a picture for me where he showed in the red marks where he took it down, and it really is just the slightest bit, no more then 3mm and it fit. I'll post my build within the week tho and if you have any questions at all PM me, its all really fresh in my mind lol

I would like to put this stock on my Model 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor. I see that you purposefully listed the other rifles in the Target Rifle Series as no go. Is the LRP different? And will it work? I may measure tomorrow, but hoping for a more concrete answer. I can't see the .308 mags having a prob with 6.5 Creed.

If that's a no go.... Hurry up with a stock for my Savage LRH in .338 LM!!!

Thanks for trying - much appreciated.

Anyways, this clinches it for me... I wanted to get a Savage 10TR, but if I have to use their proprietary mags because I can't fit the rifle into an AICS-friendly chassis, forget it. I have way too many AICS mags around to warrant anything else. Savage seem to be stuck in pointless re-engineering. They should learn that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hi Tac21, I would like to know if I need to remove my savage accutrigger prior to installation? Because on YouTube I watched the Tac21 installation on remington 700 and the trigger needs to be removed, however the savage accutrigger seems unremovable compared to remington trigger design. How hard is it to install for a savage rifle?

Yes, it does need to be removed. It is a bit harder than on the R700, but if you go through the instructions step by step, it should work out no problem.

Yeah... any word on that? Is there a Tac-21 chassis for the 11/111 Long Range Hunter 338 Lapua?
Yes, it looks like we will start selling this in August!

Also, we all new production runs on the Savage chassis will fit the bottom bolt release. In order to remove the bolt, you would need to flip the lever inside the trigger guard, but this is quite doable with one finger.
