Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge (2-day PRS points race match)

How far are plates going to be placed on Friday for zeroing? Will we be able to shoot plates out to 800 or so to gather data

Nice trophies BTW

Invitation letters have all been sent out. Please print it out and carry it with you on the base.

Hey, it's Saturday night! All going well? Lots of good learning happening! Good luck to all the shooters. Shoot well and meet lots of people of like mind there! What's not to like?

Cheers,

Barney

If you think you are a good shot, come out to this event next year. You'll be humbled very quickly, these events expose all of your weaknesses.
Regardless, it was an amazing event, Kris, Ryan and all of the range staff and volunteers did a fantastic job.
Also the sponsors including the title sponsor, Insite Arms really stepped up for this one. Congratulations to the winner, Matt and all of the rest of the competitors for being helpful and showing the true spirit of competition and willingness to help each other out.

BTW the winner of the match and 3 combined Desert tech stages gave his prize, a new Desert tech to one of the RO's. The ultimate show of class at an event like this.

This was excellent organization and execution. Kris, Ryan and other organizers did a great job putting this together and also made adjustment quickly in execution. It was a great learning for us all. I was in the same squad as an experienced American and the PGW team. It was really an eye opener to see how some of the techniques applied throughout the stages. It might seem the challenge crushed many of us, including myself, but we also learned much more of ourselves, equipment, gears, more importantly, what to improve in skills and techniques.

Look forward to another good run next year. It would be even better if there are practice opportunities mushrooming at local clubs.

So much fun, and very very challenging. Devious stages!

Awesome turnout with great participants, R.O.s and sponsors. Absolutely will return next year if another event is held.

Here's to Squad #2!!

Cannot praise Kris enough for making this happen. We all owe you a big thank you, you did it! Congratulations too! Hats off to all the amazing sponsors who came out big in support of Canada's first sanctioned PRS points match. Thanks to all the RSOs and Match Officials for putting in the long hours before, during and after. It was three very full days in Meaford, under deep blue skies and a bright sun, tough for all (but I'll take it over sleet and howlin' wind anytime) and particularly tough for the ROs standing all day and making the match run very well, way to go!

Thank You to Meaford's CO. Without your greenlight this could not have happened.

If you missed this match you should regret it. It was an oppertunity to see some great shooters shoot and find out where your own systems, techniques, equipment, data and words lived and died. This match was for doers, yet no matter where you ended up, finishing was a very satisfying accomplishment. So much learned, so much to adapt/fix/try/discard. This experience was extremely valuable for any rifleman looking to push themselves and their gear to the limit and go beyond it. Hats off to everyone there at the end all 18 stages!

Shout out to all my Squad 6 buddies, made some new friends and relived some good old competition memories too.

Will look forward to running into my Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge 2016 alumnus over the years. This match is going down in history!

This was an incredible match. Fun, challenging, humbling, exhilarating, and exhausting - sometimes all at once!

Lots of iron on the line

I just started shooting precision rifle a few years ago (thanks Barney!) and was dreaming of the day when we could shoot PRS in Canada. Then, through the great efforts of Kris, Ryan, and their indefatigable team, they put together something very special.

First PRS sanctioned event in Canada and the first civilian competition to be held at Meaford (to my limited knowledge). Thanks to the base commander of 4th Canadian Division Training Centre for graciously allowing us the use of the facilities. What a privilege to use these ranges for a sporting competition.

Having organized a shooting match or two in my time, I know a little about what kind of effort was required from all those involved. And the effort was tremendous.

It was inspirational to see the shooting community rally around this event with people from all walks of life participating as match officials. I cannot overstate how much my group of competitors and I appreciate the fact that the organizers, range staff, and their families gave up so much of their precious free time, including the last long weekend of the short Canadian summer to not only host a match of this scale and importance, but to advance the sport itself in Canada. On behalf of my companions, you have our deepest gratitude.

Moving from Cambrai to Caen pad

The sponsors were extremely generous with a very rich prize table. Insite Arms built a beautiful rifle. Ellwood Epps kindly donated a Desert Tech. Great to see Cadex and PGW rounding out the Canadian content with their fine rifles. Cadex brought a suppressed 308 for competitors to try during sight in. Oh, and they even brought Rob Furlong himself!

The competitors themselves came from all over Canada and the US. Always great to meet shooters from different places, as well as seeing familiar faces. The competition was high level and Matthew Brousseau, the match winner, blew us all away not only with his score, but his graciousness when he gave his prize away to one of the ROs.

I'm sure I've missed someone in all this so apologies in advance. It's been a long, long weekend and I can't wait to do it all over again.
