Mentoring

Evenings gents:
Looking for a waterfowl mentor in the southern Ontario. Have the wheels and the tools just looking for the knowledge. Had a taste last season and need to find a regular group to go with. Minor hunting experience, good eyes, and open ears.

Currently living in Guelph.

Shoot me a line.

I'm looking to go hunting in Region 2 in BC for anything this fall. I've never hunted but I took my hunters education in Ontario and plan to challenge it and go this year to learn the way of the land!

I've offered to mentor new hunters in BC region 3 and region 5.... had a few guys take me up on it but bail right before the hunts. no biggie, I go anyways :D
one young fella we took out last year bagged his first moose..... on his second "real" hunting trip. I remember him trying not to laugh at my moose calls as I sweet talked that bull in from a ways off. and a couple years ago taking a young hunter a buddy sent my way into my favorite deer spot and he bagged a 4x5 blacktail buck.

it's hard to mentor a new hunter who just has a weekend , if the wife lets them LOL
I am interested in mentoring guys that are serious about it, take a week off , have appropriate gear to rough it for a week, and be prepared to walk yer ass off hehehe
I'll be chasing bucks, and willing to have a new guy along , in oct, region 3 , between oct 10 and oct 19
you will need silent clothing, no Velcro!!! on your clothes or packs, binos, and be proficient at 200 yards with your rifle. we test that out on day 1 of hunting.
you gotta have good footwear that you have worn already to know you'll be dry and comfortable all day.
be prepared for temps to -10
hmmmm I dunno, my offer will be made again this year. our crew is a very well equipped, very laid back bunch of true n blue BC boys from 20 up to 50 years old. no elitism, no attitudes, no boozing, but otherwise, pm me and we'll take it from there
thomas

that is a nice offer Thomas.

maybe you wont be able to do that soon?

hehehe if I end up in Yukon i'll surely need some mentoring myself ;)
we'll see, we're a ways from making the decision and I have some obligations to fulfill in BC still.
one more hunting season here for sure anyways.
maybe I should pass on a couple decent mule deer spots to a new hunter before I move away...... hmmmm

I started helping a young fellow out along with several other friends when he was 12, and now 12 years later he takes me out and sends me to honey holes. Another young fellow I know wanted to take it up and oddly enough we've been out numerous times together and always got skunked but he got a doe draw and went out on his own and got one. Introduces me as the guy who "taught him everything I know about hunting."

Hey guys,

Just found this thread but don't have time to read through it at the moment. I acquired both my hunting and RPAL licences this year and really want to do some hunting. Filling my freezer is the goal.. I live in SK but would hunt in Alberta, BC, NWT or SK. I have my WIN number for AB already BTW, as I work out here and do some fishing in down time.

For hunting guns, I have a Tikka T3 in .270 Win and a Winchester SX3.

Anyone local would be great, I currently live in Regina.

I'm 30yrs old, responsible and learn fast. Only animals I've killed are grouse, back when I lived in BC as a kid.

I'd love to get an Elk, from what I understand their meat is the best. I've seen lots of back and forth about .270 and elk hunting, but I could always get a bigger caliber if need be.

I'd be willing to take time off work to rough it in the bush for a week. That experience alone would be great.

If anyone is willing to show me the ropes, it would be greatly appreciated.

BRITISH COLUMBIA- REGION 2

Hey guys,

Total newb here who's keen on hunting deer at first, and bigger game down the road. I have great gear (work for a popular outdoor brand in North Vancouver) and happy to take a week off work to learn the ropes on small game, with the aim of listening, learning and progressing my skills.

Fit guy (run trail races) who is used to hauling gear so hopefully wouldn't slow you down too much.

If anyone is interested, please PM me!

Oh I forgot! I have purchased just a few days ago a .308 rifle, hopefully that works. No optics on it yet, but should have them soon.

New BC hunters should watch this thread as we get closer to sept.
If I can get this current job wrapped up with time to spare, I'll make myself availlable again in October for mulies in region 3

Just recently moved to Alberta. Put in some draws in 406 and 408, wondering if anyone else entered the draws here and is in need of a partner. I am heavily armed and dangerous to game animals.

No real mountain hunting experience, or elk experience for that matter (unlikely I will draw) but plenty of walking up and down mountains with heavy loads experience. Seems probable I will draw for one of the 4 deer I entered for in the area.

I am new to hunting and I am looking for a somone to teach me hunting skills on qci deer. I frequent the islands. I have all the gear required and licenses required. The hunting bug skipped my parents generation and all of the old timers I know are to old to teach me.

Hello all,
I am looking for someone or a group of goose or duck hunters who would like to add a member to their group/ need someone to fill in for the day, looking for someone near west Ottawa (I live in Carleton Place). I have been shooting pass on geese and ducks for a few years and would love to try doing it the right way, I just don't really know anyone currently hunting geese. Send me a PM, definitely willing to help with the work and costs.
Thanks,

Half the battle with haida gwaii deer is just getting there LOL
We went there for our first time, no real advice or direction. Our local contact and now good friend couldn't make it back to the Gwaii to meet us. So there we were, sitting in the rain in Old Massett lookin at each other with that "whatthefugg do we do now?" look on our faces haha
We ended up finding a good area after talking to a local logger on the side of the road and within a day had our first 3 deer down. Had no problem tagging out with 5 deer each (2 of us), awesome adventure, the weather was wrath of god ridiculous to decent, but we went in november. Snowed all day the day we left even. Would recommend that trip to anyone and can't wait to do it again. Maybe elk next time tho... But a difficult hunt to say the least.

I'm in the same boat as many, as a new hunter in the Victoria area. I would really like to tag along with some experienced hunters to gain more knowledge if there are any willing hunters out there.

Sorry if it was mention before, I didnt find, but may be it will be useful for the beginners in Quebec. I found the site http://www.initiezec.com/ where you can participate in the hunter initiation. I was in ZEC Lavigne for 2 days for small game hunting and I was really impressed.

Anyone in grey Bruce doing deer with rifle this year?
Would love to tag along I've never gone before and have an sntlerless tag for my local wmu, antler ed everywhere else
Thanks
