Looking at getting on the list for a membership at this range anyone have any info on this range like

How its ran
What the range it self is like
And how the people are there like staff and members

It is a great range and is run by a good group of guys. In my experience they are quite accessible as well.

The range has a lot of action bays (I think we have 8 or maybe even more - not my sport so don't pay too much attention). A great 50/M100M/200M range, an even better 300M/400M/500M range with steel gongs, and a 50M rimfire range in the works (it could be done by now) and I think they are looking at a skeet/trap field.

Never had a problem with members out there - normally pretty quiet as well.

I highly recommend getting on the list.

There’s no real staff per say. Every member has to do the orientation and get certified as a range officer, that way you are free to use the range whenever you like during the operating hours. Members have always been very nice, other then my first day there and some grumpy old fella came ripping into the Shepard range and started to yell at everyone cause he couldn’t find a place to park.

Lol ornery old guys aren't the norm, unless you start talking about Trudeau or Notley :)

Milo is an awesome range. Not usually too busy, and having a private bay to yourself is awesome! The rimfire and aerial shotgun ranges are now officially open. The 4 new (huge!) multi use bays are on track to be completed next year. When we'll get use then is up to the CFO I guess, but construction should be done.

As the CDTSA operates as a non profit organization, staff is kept to a minimum. There are no permanent staff at either range. Membership and match fees go back into the club (just take a look at Milo if you're wondering where all the money goes, it's pretty impressive). I've never had a problem with any other member, especially at Milo. The board members and directors are great guys. I was brand new to the club and competition in general at the beginning of 2017, and by the end of the year I was RO for a 3 gun match. Now I'm on the 3 gun team, designing, building and ROing stages. They're definitely looking for people willing to put some time in and help out, if that's your thing.

That being said though, there is a wait list for membership. Send an email to info@cdtsa.ca and request to be added to the wait list if you want to join.

Pretty much what everyone has said above.
Dont think we could reach out any further even if we wanted to. Its a quarter section, so that is only ~800M fence to fence.
But yes, the shotgun range and 22LR range is open. We are looking at making some musical plates for the plinking range, should be good with the kids. We are developing 5 new massive multi use bays, but I imagine those will be in use most of the time for organized matches. (Which is leaves all the original bays open for members to use all the time)

CDTSA encourages and supports anyone trying to better themselves and better the sport. So if you want to get better with your AR, we got a program for that. Precision rifle, Steel challenge, 5 stand, CQB, Multigun/3-gun, CAS. Service Rifle we got it all. Just let us know what you want to get into and we can help direct you and get you set up.

It's a really fantastic facility and getting better all the time. Very clean and well run. We are out there, or Shepard, all the time. Members are pleasant, courteous and safe for the most part. I feel fortunate to be a member and would buy a lifetime membership if it was an option. ;)

Get on the wait list! You won't regret it!

Also, steel plates on the 300, 400 and 500 meter ranges, with a possibility of one on the 200 range. Plinking steel on the .22 range is great fun, by the way. Set up my own (purchased from a site vendor here) and popped away with a single shot using .22 short.

"Shephard" has already been mentioned so you probably already know that your membership is good for both ranges. It's handy to duck out after work and try your reloads or to take a newbie out to for a firearms intro.

That Milo range is the result of forethought, planning and a ton of volunteer effort. I feel privileged to be a member.

We have steel for range 1 (200M) we just need to design and fabricate a new a-frame to hold it.
But as everyone has said, there is no staff, only volunteers and life delays us sometimes.
