Hey,

So, who's shot it today?? What's it like? What do we have to look forward to, tomorrow? :dancingbanana:

Great match, I shot really, really bad (but I wasn't alone)

I recived a reshoot on the first stage, they had a pop up target and it poped off as I was shooting it (I still had my hits)

The next stage I had a Dud (and I'm blaming it on you for you thread about the bad Winchester ammo) and it was a stage with 2 poppers and 5 plates so I had to do a standing reload to finish it.:runaway:

The next couple of stages were good and I shot ok.

The next stage had a swinger you activated by pulling a rope, then you shot it 5 times. I had trigger freeze (twice) then forgot how many rounds I fired and shot it six time. Oh did I mention it was V.C. DOH, :bangHead: DOH, :bangHead: DOH,:bangHead: oh did I mention I had 6 hits DOH, :bangHead: DOH, :bangHead: DOH,:bangHead:

The last stage I was just trying to not screw up any more:(

It was a lot of fun, If Clive is there ask him if he can count.....

hehe ;)

Any drop-turners or step-activators?

Re Winchester ammo, I'm giving up on that totally, switching to combat masters for matches. I'll use up my left over winchester for practice...

2 Drop turners on the field course

1 Pop up activated by a square plate.

No step activators, just that evil rope stage :p

A great match put on by Wentworth as always, The 5 shot virginia count swinger is a little tricky, but I managed to get all 5 on the paper. Managed to get thru the match with no mikes which made my day. :dancingbanana: :p

Great match as usual......thanks Doc!!

I was shooting with Black, and his bad luck rubbed off on me! And the sun was in my eyes, and..........o.k., I sucked. Still looking for my brain that I lost at Brantford last weekend. Anyones seen it......it's apparently very small.

But the match was very interesting. A little bit of everything in a small range. Dave is getting very evil in his old age! I like that.;)

Was a very well organize match.
I hate that swing target, overall nice stages and well spend time.

That 5-shot virginia count on stage 2, Rob's wagger was unforgiving. I am sorry Rob, but I zeroed that stage, but I know I am not alone. Seen a few Ms and at least a GM messed up that stage. Cant wait to see the stage score when it comes out just to give me peace of mind that I am not alone down there in the "zeroe zone" for that stage. :D :D

I love the speedshoot (Stage 4; 5-round virginina count for each paper target) Damn, my son beat me by a point. I had 2-C's and he had 1, but I had the better time. :D

I have to do a mag change for running dry on stage 5, I only needed one round to get the last plate left standing, which I hit with the first round from my mag reload.... (what a waste of time... I sucked.. BIG TIME  ) not to mention I hit the paper target just under the A-zone with 2-closely grouped C's.

Otherwise... the Wentworth folks did an excellent job creating those stages. I always enjoy shooting @ Wentworth.... a group of very friendly people and staff. :)

A BIG THANK YOU to the folks of Wentworth and the voluteers who helped and made the event a BIG SUCCESS... Congratulations! :) :)

Hey I had a failure to fire and ended up with an eight second time. Plus I was blind....or something. Oh well.

Welcome to my world

I had my first dud in over a year and of course it was the first shot of a stage (the click heard round the world)

well, had 1 Mike on the field course (silly me), and (hahaha) I had 5 hits on the swinger, great time too... but 4 out of the 5 hits where Ds!!!! So only 9 points for 5 hits!!!! Hehehe

Well, this will be the first casualty of the new classification system, it will NOT be a Prod classifier. I had a long email exchange with Quigley about it, and in the end we basically agreed to disagree on this issue, hehe, so believe me, that's not going to change, so no point in re-hashing it here.

We all had fun, life goes on, onto Waterford next weekend!

Dave and the guys did an excellent set up, they had tons of people to help and it went smooth as can be. I loved the speed shoot and the Bob drill...

It was a decent match for me, I came in just outside the top 5, but seeing as I haven't shot in a month I'm not complaining...

At least with the retarded, er I mean new class system I don't have to worry about my average... Its just for fun as they say...

Pleeease, let's re-hash it! Enlighten us on the main points of your email exchange.
20+ shooters, few GM's & a few M's and it's NOT a classifier  :bsFlag:

no because Omen messed up (I assume) so it didn't truely reflect his ability so it would be a "soft" classifier and therefore not a classifier.... this brings to mind one post Omen had made.... something to the effect that at a recent match he blew by the poppers in order to see if it was beneficial and to mess with others heads.... I wonder if that happened in a "classifier" match if that would cause it to be a soft classifier. So if all GM's start shooting for fun and to mess with everyone then it's possible to not have any matches deemed a classifier. Sorry for Hijacking the thread but I think all this is all very subjective.

The gist is as follows:

without my scores, m-bomber wins with a nice, solid, convincing score, it's a hard classifier, everyone is happy.

Add MY scores to it, I inch my way above m-bomber, I push everyone down by 1-2 percentage points (so the scores go DOWN), and it becomes a soft classifier with inflated scores, because I got my win without kicking ass on all the stages.

So, higher scores without me = hard classifier, reasonable scores, everyone is happy.
Lower scores after I win a few stages to win the match = soft classifier, inflated scores, purely on the basis of me not getting enough stage point overall.

I've given up on trying to understand the logic of that.

The outcome is that when we have several good shooters of the same level in a match, with us sharing winning stages, it will most likely not be a classifier, just as this wasn't. So we'll have to coordinate, taking turns to shoot in other divisions, so no more than 2 90+ shooters are in any match, to maximize the changes of it being a Prod classifier.

If we could go back, I'd be happy to have my scores from Wentworth go into Std, so the Prod scores go UP and the match becomes a hard Prod classifier (DUH!?!???!?!), but it's too late now.

I'm not particularily interested in what didn't happen.

What did happen:

Match winner shot 2 of 5 short/med courses in the 60's and the long course (about 1/3 of t he match points) in the high 80's

If that's not a soft classifier I don't know what is.

The system is not perfect but it clearly worked in this particular case.

Feel free to disagree...or come up with 10 more scenarios that didn't happen...or deal with the facts.

If anyone cares to examine the stage results for all 3 Divisions...and tell me you still don't think Prod results were soft...I'm more than happy to listen (but it doersn't change anything)

maybe i'm missing something.... here's a scenerio hypothetical but none theless ....

I'm an "unclassed shooter"... I went to wentworth and shot the match. I have no past experience with shooting Level II IPSC matches and am not classed but i'm an idiot savant with a gun. I win the match in Production. And the GM ( we'll use OMEN in this case) shoots a great match very good times no mistakes but sill only get's 85% of my points.... soft classifier or holy crap good job MaxPig.... Athough this is very far fetched it is possible I could have been shooting IDPA or just club level matches with the odd level I....if you say soft then you are in fact keeping shooters down. you are saying if you haven't shot enough level II's for this to possibly count....
