Modern Sporter builds Q&A

My BCM LPK trigger intrudes into the space for the safety, so I cannot insert the GI style safety. Is the trigger safety bar something that is typically handfitted, or is the Modern Sporter dimensions a bit off?

Install the trigger then #### the hammer. Safety will slide in. If it doesn’t fit then there’s an issue.

The trigger always has a part that is underneath the safety. Here is a quick video, trigger is installed already.

I'm pretty sure what's what I'm doing. You can see the trigger safety bar in the way of the cylinder path that the safety needs to go through during insertion.

Press on the hammer and disconnector (little metal plate above the trigger) and see if the bar moves. I have a BCM Trigger in mine and it all just slid together. Noveske safety but all Milspec parts.

Okay, thanks for the replies. Once I remove the hammer / hammer spring assembly, the trigger bar can drops down out of the way. With the all the trigger / hammer components in place the trigger safety bar cannot be pushed down to clear the way. I wonder if this is a BCM or ATRS issue. Prehaps worth a minor note to those novices following the typical video instructions.

If it’s a proprietary barrel nut , the manufacturer will have a spec. 40-50 is pretty standard.
The battle arms aluminum nuts I put on at 45 ft/lbs. they don’t require indexing.

I had a quick question about the dust cover. Currently it doesn’t seat tight to the upper. It sits about 1/8 away from completely closed. Is anyone else having this problem. I was thinking about going with an adjustable one from strike industries but I don’t know if this will solve the problem. Currently I have just a cheap steel one installed. On a completely different topic has anyone considered filing down the catch on the charging handle. I was thinking long term it might wear down the upper since upper is aluminum and the charging handle catch appears to be steel.
