Modern Varmint Rifle Updated Oct 14 2015

Your assumptions are spot on. It was 1 of a few things we missed and have corrected with the new website pages.
The IT guys have done a great job, but it is hard to cover everything at 1 time. We are still refining the order forms so it is always a good idea to check our website occasionally just to stay on top of any possible changes.

Great point! The only reason I picked the 15 was using google images, I liked the overall look better and didn't realize that I was only looking at 308's. I know it's tough to get everything on the IT side right, and I love that new drop down menu design including the pricing options.

I would be all over this in 300blk!

Not happenin!
The incidence of bullets getting stuck in the barrel with the 300 Blackout is well known to be high when the barrels get long enough to be NR, which is why so very few manufacturers offer it. The 300 was designed for CQB work and last I saw 18.6" barrels were not exactly CQB friendly.

That makes sense. But I for one wouldn't be too interested in subsonic ammo to drop a deer or mist a gopher.

The way you're saying it makes it out to be that it happens with the supersonic ammo too. I'm gonna call BS right there. Even my grasp of grade 12 physics says a supersonic projectile will have the energy to exit the bore completely. Otherwise we'd have a lot more long-barreled guns in a variety of calibers blowing up in our faces.

I agree that the chances of supersonic not getting the bullet to exit the barrel is low, but it has been recorded. Even in bolt guns where full gas is exhausted unlike a gas operated rifle where gas is bled off.
Of greater concern is the fact that 300 Blackout ammo in subsonic is readily available, yet not distinguishable from the supersonic stuff. Ever mix up a box of ammo?
The simple fact is that if we don't make it, we do not have any exposure to litigation in the event of stupid or bad things occurring.

It is interesting to note that even in bolt actions only 16" barrels seem to be offered on a factory level and very few manufacturers offer the 300 at all.

Hello , can anybody recommend a projectile weight and type/brand that would be the most efficient for this rifle. I have a couple thousand Vmax 53g that's already loaded, but that was for a diff gun.

Hi Brian,
As these will be running a 1:8 twist barrel, they can handle a vast majority of the 223 bullets out there. Anything from 40-80gr should be just fine.

Thanks, I just want to do some test loads for it.

I'm hoping to develop a load with both the 53gr V-max, and the 75gr A-max. Time will tell, and each barrel is individual, but both should be within the optimal twist rate. 53gr V-max for the pink-mist effect and less-risk of damaging steel close up (hypothetically - that velocity is a killer on tempering), and 75gr A-max for mid-range target. I will likely try to keep my load development with Hornady bullets, not because I don't love Sierra match kings, but simply for availability.

Hey this is for the gents at ATRS and for the fellows like myself who have ordered the MV, i was just wondering when the completion date was projected for? Have parts already been ordered and received? I vaguely remember hearing June or July for completely but cant remember specifically. Eagerly awaiting the day i can come pick it up.

Thanks again!

We are currently machining lowers, we have already got the uppers machined. Parts are on order and we are optimistic of being on schedule for July for deliveries to begin.

Looking forward to the Show and Tell! Or as the new politically correct schools now call it, "Sharing". Do you know if the new MagPul PRS GEN 3 stock might be available by then?
