Modern Varmint style uppers and lowers

So ATRS I'm confused, you say these are in production but your waiting on the FRT. In previous releases of yours, once you got the approval, how long did it take to get the FRT. Im hoping i got the correct sequences there.

We learned from the past dealing with the SFSS/RCMP. Rather than submitting a "prototype" which took years and then having to then submit a production rifle once the FRT for the "prototype" was received, which then took several months, this time we made prototypes. Tested the hell out of them. Then went into production and are now waiting for the FRT.

I was hoping it would be similar to the MV. It would be interesting to see the other side of the receiver.

It could have been identical, but then the cost would be a fair bit higher and everyone wanted cheap as possible.
Going with this design allows for the use of AR style buffer retention and saves us having to make proprietary parts, which increases the cost.

Any reason why you couldnt just go with rear take down pin so the front hinges like an AR? As long as the take down is tooless (like a normal rifle) im good. Is there any advantage to this design like less play between upper and lower?

I emailed them last week and today I got an email saying they were not taking pre orders or deposits. They didn’t acknowledge me saying I would roll the dice.

We don't work weekends.
At this point we ARE taking pre-orders but until we have an FRT will not be taking deposits or selling any just in case we get a less than favorable classification.

Yes. If we went like a conventional AR , an AR upper would then fit and the lower would have a restricted classification.
The design we went with actually eliminates any play between the upper and lower.

Cheap lol, may always be relative, but these are not chump change. I wonder how many are planning budget builds with parts they have laying around. I'm looking to spec exactly what I want for a target and hunting rifle. I'm not expecting it to be cheap, unless in comparison to a Modern Varmint - but then again, it wont be a Modern Varmint.
I see a lot of people making this same argument, "SLR is cheap if you have the parts already". Well unless you had the parts gifted to you the parts you have at home already cost something and should be included in the price of the build.

Any chance for a 308 version? I am interested in building a 6.5 creedmoor and with the all over the place review of the 102 I am not to optimistic on the platform.

Few things
1 MV-S will probably cost the same to build as a MV but you can use parts you have in your Ar-15 and some prefer to put LEGO together rather than buy finished .
2 Atrs has been making and designing some of the nicest firearms in Canada . Haven’t seen any long range Macabee builds
3 if you want cheap there’s the 180 clone for sale for 1000

Myself I’ll wait for an Atrs product and tear apart one of my Ar uppers and swap parts . You’ll be seeing a lot of cheap lowers uppers and barrels under 18.6 on Ee

Also, some people just want an AR style rifle they can shoot at the pit... for $1600 you can have a completely functional rifle thats essentially an AR and non restricted. Im in that group.

An MV was just too much $$ and honestly, a waste of quality components for me. I just want to shoot at my property... im not shooting long range or competing or anything. $1000 for the upper and lower is worth it to me. But I really dont want to spend $$ on and wont make use of match grade barrels and $300 hand guards etc.

I did have a Macabee setup on order but have cancelled that for the ATRS set. Its canadian made from a company who quality you can trust AND... it takes down with a pin, not a screw.

Just got my email. Im on the list :)

Im super stoked, Ill have a NR AR10 and AR15

what a great year this has been for teh NR market.

I have a Macabee on order, bought a BCL102, bought a BCL 102 receiver set and preordered the WK180. I like the looks of the ATRS set but why the high priced MH/MV's why not just do the receiver set that they are pursuing now?? I think I will stick with Macabee, they offered a receiver set first...
