More details from the Globe and Mail

Thanks for posting. Read it all. The last paragraph is telling:

“ There is also a risk that affected firearms owners may elect to replace their firearms with models unaffected by the ban, causing a market displacement. This risk may be mitigated by adding additional makes and models to the list of prohibited firearms in the future.”

This is wrong and enraging on so many levels. It nullifies all the preceding BS about public safety and reveals the true agenda.

Very true, well said!

Justin only picks low hanging fruit as he lasts true leadership capabilities and is nothing more than a yes man.

Since there is no need for such weapons accept for use by the military, then should the good people of Canada now expect the police to return their patrol rifles. There is no room in this country for weapons designed to kill or injure great amounts of people with great speed.

am currently not on the list - but it does prevent me from buying an FX-9 since I wanted a 9mm carbine. i still can not get over it how many mass shooting took place with the mini-30 this century - the failure is the Gov't
first nations are laughing and gang members do not give a lay
honest working smucks like us get fcuked

LoL. All "AR" Uppers are also banned.

Source?

I didn't think any prohibs had restrictions on non-serialized parts? Other than the obvious (supressors, full auto components, etc..)

Definitely enough guys out there who have done conversions on Valmets with AK/Galil parts.. Or the G36 conversions...

What am I missing?!

Even with the ban, I thought we'd still be free to buy/trade/sell any parts other than the lower? The same way I can buy AK handguards or a Galil stock?

The BCL 102's are on the list. A non-AR made the list.

"Whether at home or abroad, the deadliest mass shootings are commonly perpetrated with assault-style firearms. These events, and concerns about the inherent deadliness of assault-style firearms used in them, have led to increasing public demand for measures to address gun violence and mass shootings in Canada."

That's some bull####. So some ####tard in the US goes off the rails, and Canadians are supposed to pay for it? This is a sad sad day for Canada.

"The Regulations and the Amnesty Order come into force on the day they are made. The Amnesty Order expires on April 30, 2022."

We've got just under 2 years to get the Fiberals out of office. We need to get to work.

"The Regulations also prescribe the upper receivers
of M16, AR-10, AR-15 and M4 pattern firearms to be prohibited
devices in order to ensure that these firearms cannot
easily be used with illicitly manufactured or acquired
lower receivers. The M16, AR-10, AR-15 and M4 firearms
are modular firearms consisting of the lower receiver
assembly, which is the component bearing the serial number
and subject to registration and that is now prohibited;
and the upper receiver assembly, which is the pressure bearing
component and has not previously been regulated.
An owner could possess two or more upper receiver
assemblies, which can be mounted and dismounted on a
lower receiver assembly according to the needs of the
occasion. If upper receivers were not also prohibited,
there would be an important public safety risk that the
upper receiver assemblies would be mated with an illegal
lower receiver (i.e. smuggled, made from a receiver blank,
or manufactured by 3D printing to supply the illegal market)
thus creating unmarked untraceable M16, AR-10,
AR-15 or M4 firearms, commonly known as “ghost guns.”
Prohibiting the upper receiver of these rifles will reduce
the quantities in circulation and render it much more difficult
to illicitly fabricate working firearms."

So, hypothetically speaking of course, if one was to own a $9700 PGWDTI LRT3, and. $3500 worth of dies and 50 cal specific presses and multiple thousands of dollars worth of brass, powder and projectiles what would said individual receive in $$ in dip ####s “ buy back” program.

Man I’m glad I’m not him....

There must be some "easy" to convert to 50 BMG short, the "50 Maple Leaf". Or maybe a 750 gr 50 sub sonic.

Is there a list yet of the 1500 rifles? I keep hearing 1500 but haven't seen a list. Does one exist ?

This link has the full list.

"During the amnesty period, the Government intends to
implement a buy-back program to compensate affected
owners for the value of their firearms after they are delivered
to a police officer; however, until a buy-back program
is offered, affected owners will not be eligible for compensation.
An option to participate in a grandfathering regime
would also be made available for affected owners. Further
public communications on the buy-back program and the
grandfathering regime will follow later."

Mentioned 4 or 5 times in the Canada Gazette article which is the specific changes to the law they have ordered.

yes mentioned in the gazette. but not mentioned in the actual law. Not once. in fact the opposite is said.

Security institutions are meant to serve the People of Canada, not individuals, and therefore take lawful direction from the democratically elected government. Most Canadians, unfortunately, support an "assault weapons" (dumb term) ban and provided the government a mandate to impose such a restriction during the last election. You can argue about minority governments, electoral process, etc but 4/5 (Liberal, NDP, Bloc, & Green) federal parties sitting in Parliament, if a debate were held today, support this. We would lose democratically.

Security institutions are duty bound to uphold democratic will. Unfortunately, in this case, the will of the majority opposes our cause placing us on the losing end. It sucks, no doubt. It's illogical and won't prevent violent crime. I don't agree with it personally, however, I can have civil dialogue and eventually accept the will of the majority. It's the social convention we live by, by living in Canada.

Look in this thread and it's easy to see why the majority don't want AR-15's kicking around. You have the Moron Labe crowd advocating armed resistance and in one case, civil war. WTF! Dude clearly has never been to a conflict zone or applied violence against other human beings....you don't even think about bringing that #### into this country. So for every 10,000 civil, nice to be around, "assault weapon" owners capable of honest debate, you get one retard like that and it destroys the image of all. Unfortunately these same guys are the ones with wet-dreams of societal collapse and a survivalist reality.

1) Most Canadians did not vote for this government. We don't have a democracy we have mob rule where the minority stripes the rights, assets of others.

2) You need to check out how our money system and banks work, who issues money? Its all a scam thats been played out many times in history since Roman times. Please read some economic history. Our fiat fake money system is on its last stage, it could be a year, it could be tomorrow, or it could be another 10 years.

3) When governments/kings realize their economic ponzi scheme fraud is almost up, first thing they do is confiscate all the pitchforks. The way gun confiscation is being pushed so aggressively lately, and on an international level should make you really uncomfortable.

4) You need to chat with people who were present when their economic systems & society collapsed around them in a matter of weeks/days. Try people who lived in Russia during soviet collapse, during Yugoslavia's collapse, during Argentina's economic collapse. There are a lot of them in Canada, you will LEARN a lot about how the real world works.

Dont let normalcy bias blind you.

The actions taken today by the federal government in order to advance their empty unfounded agenda have demonstrated once more how this party and their allies embrace the idea of working for interest groups and paint themselves with the dictatorship brush all resonable Canadians have seen since day one. With every single action these people take, they violate written law and moral guidelines that used to be the basis and foundation of a great Canada, once considered a leader and a beacon of the world. The empty, biased, malicious, ignorant proclamation done today against the most vetted sector of Canadian society is only the last one on a very long line of reckless decisions that is taking Canada into it's unavoidable encounter with total collapse, we see those unequivocal signs on each and every sector of the economy and every sector of society from financial to judicial decisions. They have all been wrong and aimed to the failure of the everyday Canadian. The breaking point is near and if there is any doubt, one should look into their own finances and into their own communities. At some point, and sooner than we think, the link that kept us united will break. The pendulum has swung to far to the left and when it falls back, it will mean the catastrophe of our society, just think about the criminals that have taken over our streets and many government positions. Corruption is the tune of the day. Today the prime minister said "These weapons were designed#for one purpose and one purpose only ... to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time,". This pre-crafted line has been said by Blair in the past. It will be fruitless to attempt to explain how inaccurate this line is and frankly, if someone needs explanation, it would be a waist of time. However I fear that such phrase now on public record, may convince people that all the police forces armed with C-8's are armed for "one purpose and one purpose only ... to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time". That means to me that the next time a police officer stops to talk to anyone, the police service can be sued for the psychological trauma of threatening their life as we know for a fact that they have C-8's and those weapons serve "one purpose and one purpose only ... to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time". As well, if people have to attend court, they can object to the fact that the police officer didn't threatened them as in their mind, that police officer had/has a weapon that has the sole purpose of killing them, that is intimidation. People will be actually terrified of that fact and will be contacting their lawyer if any police officer contacts them for any reason as the psychological impact of that encounter can be very grave. The result, will not be fun for anyone.

"Most Canadians" voted for the Liberal and NDP parties. You need to face up to the fact that we lost this one through normal democratic means. The Conservatives alone didn't have the clout to prevent it.

It's as simple as that.

I have a really dumb question;

Are any of the affected companies (Ruger, Beretta, Robinson, Sig, Etc.) able to sue the government for loss of income, discrimination, illegally banning, etc? Why don't or haven't more of the manufacturers stepped up to fight this as well?

Sorry if this is a obvious answer but the thought just crossed my mind.
