Mosin Original WW2 Dated Matching Sniper Rifles for SALE!

How much did you buy your clone for? They go for 480 / 520. I paid the 480 for mine from westrifle - and its an accurate shooter! My current fave rifle - I can only hope my "original" will be as accurate!
I paid 695 from P.S. like 2 years ago but i must say that the bore is perfect, had the hardwood stock so look correct for a ww2 sniper clone and the scope are all blued steel like they should. I didnt fire it yet but i wouldnt worry about accuracy. I may keep it if i cant sell. At the time, i bought a clone because no original came across, still a very nice rifle but the original bug got me so that's why i bought a real sniper now that they are affordable.

do you think the tule sniper is more desireable than the izevesk rifle and for what reason

It usually depends on the year. Certain war years saw fewer Tula Mosin Nagants constructed than Izhevsks, but pre-war year Tula Mosin Nagants were apparently slightly more common than Izhevsk Mosin Nagants.

The Tula Mosin Sniper barrels were also stamped as sniper barrels, but the Izhevsk sniper barrels lacked the same type of stamp, and instead they had the serial # of their scope stamped on the left side of the barrel, just above the woodline of the stock.

i hade a feeling they were made up post war rifles ,but with original parts stamped to match its still a good deal and as close as im likely to get to a real one so i got one comeing from weimajack

Rifles are definitely Post WW2 refurbs of actual WW2 issue rifles. There to many variables on the type of stampings and variation in scopes and scope mount markings used. If you are going to set-up production of repros or outright fakes you will used the same thecniques in all of them and try to get everything as perfect as possible. I handled these refurbs 25 years ago, when no one had any idea of faking them and all I have seen up to now meshed with this new batch. If you are looking for a picture perfect 100% genuine unaltered WW2 rifle these are not for you, but I predict prices will double on them by this time next year.

Is there an actual difference in a sniper barrel? Or is it a regular barrel marked that it belongs to a sniper rifle?

All barrels produced were tested for accuracy after production. The more accurate barrels were set aside for sniper rifles. The Soviets later drastically reduced the number of snipers in their forces, meaning that a great many sniper rifles were then converted to reg infantry use (ex-snipers).

You'll hear people say that ex-sniper barrel are probably shot out, but that's a fallicy as a generalization. Almost all MN rifle barrels saw heavy use during WWII, regular infantry rifles included, and rate of fire for infantry rifles is generally higher. Also, the chance a rifle was used as a club or stabbing weapon increases as range to enemy decreases. Its probably more correct to think that the more worn sniper rifles were used to fill the quota when they were converting from sniper to infantry. But that doesn't mean they were all 'shot out' to infantry rifle standards.

The important point is... a sniper barrel started off as superior, then ALL rifles deteriorated to some degree through use and over time. As a generalization. there's really no chance that standard infantry rifle barrels, which were rejected for sniper use, have somehow become more accurate, or even just as accurate 70 years later.

I just ordered one from Tradex. The gentleman I spoke to said " I can't pick one out for you because they are all equally good. " I can't wait to get my hands on this !

Guys - just got mine from TRADEX.
It's a 1944 Izhevsk. Bolt matches receiver. Serial number on left side of receiver matches the scope serial #. Scope looks old but works.
Rifle looks in excellent refurb condition. The kind we have been used to for many years.
Quite a few marks (stamps) on my stock.
I will take pics tonight and post.
It came with the tool kit and an instruction manual (sniper rifle manual) entirely in Russian - with some signatures and dates in pen (offical looking). Who reads Ivan out there?
At this early point, having just spent 5 minutes with it though...it's the best milsurp buy for under 1k.
Very happy with it!

just received mine from tradeex and i am very happy. 1943 Izveshk with a 1941 progress scope that look to be an early type, but i dont know too much about optics. I will post pics soon, but it is a great buy. Nice rifles and optics.

Any idea why some of the scopes don't have dates? Is this normal or where the scopes scrubbed during re-furb?

Pretty good deal, Numrich sell original scopes/mounts for $550 US. Standard Mosin Nagants sell for $170+ in Canada. So you are getting a refurb'd sniper and orignal scope for a pretty fair price.

they come with the lens cover, oil bottle, few mosin tools and a russian instruction booklet with some 2012 inspections stamps and signatures. No canvas cover.

Any thoughts on the mounts?

I may have missed it, but do the mounts appear original wartime or new production?

If anyone is able to read Russian could they translate this page from the manual?
