Mossberg 590A1 Retrograde

On my wish list is the new Mossberg 500 Retrograde with a heat shield.

I added the heatshield to a 500 retrograde that Bulleye London had on for $490.00 last summer.

I ended up with a spare 500/590 heat shield kit in blue finish as CBSA sat on the first one from Brownell's for 5 weeks. Brownell's said it's lost and shipped out a second one. Of course the first one shows up 2 week later.

Maybe try Western Gun Parts? They deal direct with Mossberg I believe.

does nothing for me. 590a1's are rugged machines, wood doesn't suit it imo.

It suits me just fine. I have an old LE trade in 500A that has similar wood, no checkering. I just started stripping the old finish yesterday. Mine is ugly though. A lot of scarring from abuse and some unevenly applied stain that I might not be able to get rid of. Not too worried though, it adds to the character. This sucker is ugly, put a camo vent rib barrel on it to replace the the one it came with. Lots of scars on the anodizing too.

Going to try a pine tar finish for kicks.

Seemed like a very good price so I added one to the collection. I figured it wouldn't be that nice, but I was wrong. Very impressed with the quality.

Does anyone here know where I can find an upgraded Trigger group that is steel or aluminium? I've checked a dozen Canadian retailer's websites and found nothing so far.

New owner of one of these beauties. New to Mossberg as well, and have a question:

The safety seems really stiff. Way more work to move than I was expecting, especially pushing forward to fire. It is by far the stiffest safety of any modern firearm I've handled. Disassembled it to see if there was a burr somewhere, or something catching on the receiver cutout, but it all looks good.

Is this just a break-in issue, or should I be sending this one back for inspection? Spent about an hour clicking it on and off with minimal to no improvement.

My 1974 500ATP is stiff AF as well. Lucky for me my trigger finger is my safety ! I guess the retrograde is a perfect copy !
