Anyone shot a good mix of military style semis in 5.56?

Which had the best accuracy in your hands at 100 meters - Colt Canada, Swiss Arms, LMT or other?

The KAC SR15 Mod 2 should be high up there... JP.

I know there are a couple of pros (Longshot and Gunnerlove to name a few) around here that can definitely attest to Colt Canada’s performance, but in the hands of a beginner like me, I was blown away. I was at my first and only service rifle shoot and at 100, 200, 300 and 500m (did we shoot at 400m? I don’t remember), the rifle was putting rounds where I wanted most of the time.

To put it in perspective, I’m a crap shot to begin with, my eyes were pretty horrible before the laser eye surgery, I don’t have the steadiest hands, and it was my first time ever reaching out to 500m, but in a ten round serial, I managed two v-bulls and the remainder were mostly in the bull or close to it. I wasn’t expecting to get any on paper, let alone v-bulls at 500m.

Anyway, I picked up some excellent experience from that shoot. The more experienced shooters as well as the staff were excellent coaches and the next range exercise I went on, I was able to easily place all rounds under one small indicator at 100m. I bought an SA20 because of that experience.

I have exactly zero experience on a KAC. The LMT I shot was nice.

I am, however, very happy with both my Colt Canada SA20 and IUR. I don't want to say "they're the best!", but I would put them up there near the top or at the top. They're supposed to be a 1.5-2 MOA rifle, IIRC.

This pic is from my stock IUR shooting Remington UMC offhand at 100yrds. (spent .223 case for size comparison of group). Optic was a EOTech with the STS magnifier. I imagine handloads or quality ammo would tighten that up a bit. Surplus would open it up a bit. Either way, more than accurate enough for 3 gun or critter hunting (in the US).

The water gets muddied by limited production rifles like the SDM-R, MK12, C7CT and those countries using Colt Competition Shop ARs.

The accuracy of most general issue rifles is usually limited by the issued ammo and the low powered optics/iron sights.

Any high end gucci AR with a really nice barrel will shoot beautifully.

That really should read "any AR with an excellent quality barrel will shoot beautifully"

The really beautiful thing about the AR is that you don't need to spend a pile of money on them to get it to shoot.
Float a good barrel and shoot ammo it likes.

I've shot the Colt Canada SA15.7, the IUR, a LMT AR and a Swiss Arms Classic Green. All real accurate semi's.

Today I shot a Swiss Black Special that out shot all of them with mid-priced ammo. I suspect all the planets and stars were briefly aligned. Hope to get back out again for another go before monsoon season arrives... to prove it was just a fluke.

I do shoot competitively with a SAN in the SVV (Swiss Shooting Federation) and have shot my CC IUR, SA15.7 and SA20 as a comparison. With an ELCAN 3.4x I shot a 99 out of a possible 100 score at 300 meters (called the last shot). The best I could do with my SAN with a brand new barrel and Swiss issue x6 power DMR scope was an 95 score. Both using GP90 5.6mm service ammo.

Is that ammo the same as Ruag?

The beauty of top shelve AR is even with cheap ammo they will perform... Here a target 20 shots at 100 yard with my KAC with dead cheap Barnaul 62 gr... JP.
