Most accurate Semi-Auto 223 Non-Restricted

Good day,

having a discussion with a fellow shooter about semi-auto and accuracy.
I`m use to shoot C-7 and C-8......, was in shooting teams for years......

But work and weekends are a different world.

I`m a Bolt action guy for Varmint (Yotes and critters)

I`m nuts about accuracy, of course I reload my own.....

My main gun is a CZ 527 in 223.

I dont own Ar-15 platform because its restricted: (whats the point to buy something if you cant really use it).....

He told me there was some nice one out there, semi-auto, 223, non-restricted.

looked the HK- SL8, but it has a 18.6 inch barrel.

Can I get 22 inch barrel from a Semi-auto 223.

What do you think about the Benelli MR1, Browning BAR.. and others....

In you mind / experience: whats the most accurate semi 223 ?
to be ex-æquo with my CZ bolt action ?

what kind of groups do you get with the 527? a factory SL8 with premium factory ammo is a 1moa gun
 
My acr gets 1.5 moa consistently with factory ammo.

SL8 some seem to be absolutely awesome, some not so much, not sure why such a high variance

HK243 maybe, not sure, no one has shot one yet, same story with modern varminter
 
I did this search a few years back, the H&K SL-8 and Swiss Arms made the short list.

Both were beyond my level of funding, especially when "around or just under 1 MOA" was the best one could hope for in either platform.

Check out the ATR Modern Varminter, likely come in around the same as a Swiss Arms but unlike other 223 semi autos, it was built with accuracy in mind from the ground up, not as a battle rifle.

Does the 18.6" barrel offer any loss in velocity versus a longer one (20"-24")????

I'm not a semi auto guy but I seem to remember reading that any gas operated gun saw diminishing returns on barrel length past the gas port.

indid a compkete analysis on that a few months earlier and posted it here, let me see if i can find it

if i remmber correctly after 20 inches there is no gain on velocity

so yah decreasing returns on increasing barrel length, so if 20 is the summit, then 18.6 would probably be 97-98% of that.
 
My mini 14 Target with that Laminated stock gets 10 shots in less than 1.5" at 100 meters with hand loads but my Remington Tactical with aftermarket stock and hand loads gets .25" 5 shot groups at 100 meters. I think that I just got lucky with the choice of bullets and powder but when it happens it it just feels great considering that I do not consider myself the best trigger man. I really believe that the hand loader has the advantage but some rifles can take forever to wring out the best in them.
 
Have a sl8 and it is capable of moa or better.

Mine is consistent 1.5 moa or better. I have shot many sub moa groups from it.

More the shooter than the rifle.

How about I have 2000 acres of land off my front step to shoot the distances, targets, cadence that I feel is appropriate. Or I can take my restricteds, drive an hr to a ####ty 100yd range, shoot paper instead of steel, and we have to count 5 Mississippi inbetween shots because #### head anti-gun retard built his new house 30yds from the fireing line on the property beside.

I will keep investing in NR rifles and visiting the foot hills with TV-PressPass
