Most accurate Semi-Auto 223 Non-Restricted

Thanks gents, so I'll add the Volquartsen Evolution to the MOA rifles list, and the HK 243 and Beretta ARX 100 to the middle tier. I gotta admit, I like the looks of both of them.

Despite its somewhat weird appearance, I'm starting to lean toward the Benelli MR-1 as a compromise between price and accuracy. Shooting times was showing it getting between 1 and 2 MOA with factory ammo (http://www.shootingtimes.com/long-guns/longgun_reviews_benelli_mr1_tactical_carbine_110810/) and another site was reporting close to 1MOA with handloads (http://www.biggamehunt.net/reviews/benelli-mr1-review-italian-coyote-rifle).

And it's in the bottom part of that $2k-$3k price range.

Well be honest now, NO you can't just use your gun when its restricted ! Your allowed to go to a range in the hours that "THEY" are open, They also decide what ammo your allowed to shoot, My local gun club doesn't allow any surplus / fmj / steel bullets ect. Basically I was told only hunting bullets so basically $2+ a shot bullets only also I was told no pistol magazines for your rifle. So NO sorry your just not allowed to use a restricted gun ! Honestly with Tavor or XCR or ACR or others being NR and are excellent guns there is no reason to be told when shoot and what your allowed to use as bullets especially when you live in places with access to the open bush with a 5 min drive.

Non restricted for me too.

I think the hk 243 is going to be north of 3k is my guess. I'd wait for some modern varminter reports to come out first to see if its truly 1 moa or less. The modern hunter seemed to have mixed reviews.

In 308 the FNAR is almost untouchable for under 2000.00 / NR / SA rifle... JP.

Before buying see if you can handle rifles in store.

I was lucky when I was looking that the store I bought from had all the major rifles in stock .

I walked in thinking I was going to buy xcr and walked out with a sl8. Happy with rifle.

I got to shoot hogie's SL8 and liked it quite a bit. He and cr5 helped me out setting up my own SL8 and working out a load. I think it was the most accurate and excellent semi auto rifle I ever owned. I did have a Hera Arms lower that improved the ergos a lot but at a weight cost. If I had another I would stay with the original stock to save weight. Still I will never own another as my back will never get better. My back started to give out a year ago (nothing to do with the rifle) so I had to sell her to go lighter. I ended up going back to a Tikka T3.

unknown? I think you need to look at current pricing as well, even after caliber conversion I am into it for less than MV pricing and accuracy is under moa. New retail on the Swiss is more

I guess my point with the ACR is you purchase a restricted rifle and then sink more money into a conversion barrel to make it non-restricted - you really do not know how it is going to shoot until you see how it prints. If there is consistant info coming in with guys and their conversions having excellent results, I suppose that reduces the risk.

I have a Tavor and it's non restricted. And it is a very accurate rifle.

i have one as well, its a good rifle, but accurate meaning sub moa no thats not what the tavor is. Its a tough, handy, compact, extremely reliable rifle that goes bang every single time, that will fire even if its super dirty, that will be able to hit under 4 moa, and thats what it was built for, not a sub moa platform.

what kind of groups do you get with the 527? a factory SL8 with premium factory ammo is a 1moa gun

A bit off topic but honestly I can't STFU about how happy I am with the accuracy of my CZ 527 Varmint. Out of the box this thing shoots 1MOA(3 shot groupings), probably much better in the hands of an expert. The set trigger is a game changer for me.

you shoukd really look at trinimons black rifle challenge for 2015 if you want to see proven sub moa accuracy with a black semi auto rifle

You're entirely right Hogie. I've handled the MR-1 at a show, and an SL-8 in store and found both to be quite comfortable for my reach and hand size.

The MR-1 forestock, in particular, was surprisingly superb in the palm of the off hand (comparatively flat and wide). The curve on the front of the magazine well also works quite nicely for comfort and carry. Without a scope, rising the telescoping stock to the shoulder just naturally lined up the iron sights to the eye for me, and that stock is quite rigid. But... I'm going to be scoping it anyways, and I'll either add a cheek riser or remove the rear iron sight block to bring the scope to a lower height.

I absolutely love the wicked looks and butt stock adjustments of the SL8, and if I decide to spend $2600 before tax (plus bipod, plus good scope, plus extra proprietary mag, so more like $3300), it will certainly be my choice. :d

If I decide to just go the plinker route and keep all pretensions of accuracy for a bolt action, the Vz.58 is a strong contender for me, I could never warm up to the looks of the Rugers and buying a Norc... the nausea... eep. :p

I'm actually looking at that one for a bolt action rifle... the thing I haven't researched yet is whether the ammo I'll find on the market is berdan primed and/or with crimped primers. That will definitely have an impact on the decision.

Here's hoping it's accurate. When it starts to be rolled out in mid summer, I'll be posting a range review.

Just going by what Dustin told me at ATRS...he said they were very happy with their testing. Looking forward to seeing your range review...my MH in .308 is on order...if the Varminter is really accurate I might see about ordering one for the second run...

I've heard the modern hunter doesnt like cheap ammo.... That would be really off putting if the modern Varminter was the same..... That's just a rumor ive heard though....

I'm referring to the .223 version using handloads, and one thing to consider is that the bolt handle has some difficult clearing large optics even with high scope rings. IIRC it uses 16mm dovetail mount.
