My desktop photo is a perfectly lit image of a SAKO FINNFIRE II with a small pic rail and a red dot. Ordinary walnut stock, swept back bolt handle. Those are some handsome lines in my opinion. Also very fond of CZ527s, even with the external mag. (which I hear criticized?) Fancy/high-figure wood is something that takes my breath away, but having had a Cooper put together for me years ago I learned a lot about myself and my preferences. haha Namely, there "is" such a thing as a rifle too fancy for me to actually hunt with.
Next big consideration is how much I use a gun/scope-getting more inclined to put more $ into whatever I use most..instead of sticking with the "rimfires only need so-so scopes/CF needs the good stuff" mentality. Found myself leaving my best scopes in the safe all the time?
Last consideration is whether or not aesthetics matter at all. Tikka call one of their models a "UPR" and they come (or did) in both the T1x rimfire and T3x CF models. Hideous looking (to me) and overpriced....issue is I'm not sure I've ever felt a lighter, more comfortable stock than the UPR models. Handled one in 308, talked myself out of getting that T1x model more than dozen times. lol
