most Reliable and durable handgun ever

Glock awesome guns, minus the bad grip angle and a few other things....Prior to a few years ago the "contest" was the DHS handgun trial. It was the most extensive and scientific handgun test since the early 1980's US Army testing.
-All comers were invited
-19 Manufacturer's indicated interest
-Comprehensive testing, sand chambers measuring light, medium & heavy sand, same for mud ect....
-Destructive testing
-I expected the Glock to win.....but....they failed and couldn't complete the testing...

Contract awarded to two companies jointly....HK (P2000) and Sig (P226). They were the only guns that were able to finish the testing.

Lot's of videos out there showing promo's of torcher testing....some by the Gun Companies....some by enthusiasts making money off the internet.

The real tests are done scientifically with large budgets behind them capturing real data...in large sample sizes...with guns randomly drawn from a regular
production line, not a dude who bought one and video taped his own test and posted it on-line for money.

Rich the gun gods will not be happy with you spreading the truth. For most of us it really doesn't matter what the military trials do in their testing because we will never find ourselves in situations similar to what the Armies of the world regularly require their weapons to withstand. Having said that if I were to require a nightstand gun it would be a 226 with night sights similar to say the Mke 25 loaded with the old Win. Black Talons. Old school I guess. The Mke 25 was used by our Special Forces and the US Seals for a period of time so I assume it would survive anything I might require of it. It isn't the gun I play the games with nor is it my range plinker. If I had one it would be my 3 am whose that gun.

The last trials the US Army did the 320 won going away. No other gun was as adaptable to their needs as the 320. With it the biggest thing going for it was it's modularity.

My bet is the RCMP will one day carry the S&W M&P because S&W will buy the contract. The Cdn military will go with the Sig 320 because the US military adopted it. Guys who need a range toy and suffer from early "Mammary Gland Separation Syndrome" will buy the Glocks. Just my opinion and it is as much as you paid for it.

Bob,

The gun I'm really excited about is the New Walther PDP, got to run several hundred rounds through one back in October (When the PDP never officially existed). Hands down the best duty striker fired gun I have ever touched. Like they consulted military and police officers during development. Darn near perfect in my opinion.
I think you might be right in how the RCMP and CF will go....unless the Walther PDP can get tried out by everyone involved.

My buddies in US Army SOF are reporting that they are slowly transitioning to Sig M18's and versions there of. It will hit the Glock Fan boys pretty hard when they finally start to see it.

i do not suffer the mammary gland separation syndrome and i have a few glocks and few 1911 ... my wife liked 1911 since day one but she s not on cgn and she liked only high end ones ...
our unit is talking about getting the g45 ... we do not have any way to see what we will get before it is giving to us and obviously you re learning to use the tool given to you not the one you wish. but i imagine if the 320 was on the table some serious studies and demonstration will have to be done because of the past issues.

bob for the 320 and winning the trials they did not win the trials: they won the contract which is major difference ...

my friends in the gign did not like the g19 at first but once mastered they are loving it now ... which is good as police and gendarmerie and army are getting one kind the g17. standardisation is the best that can be done for many reasons.

Nobody won the trials then only 320 won the contract. I don't believe the Glock was considered in the end because of the absence of modularity, a key component of the contract. The Gen5 Glock pistol is a fine pistpol but it is not more reliable than any other tier 1 striker fired pistol. The grip angle is what keeps me away from the Glock and the hump at the bottom if the grip which tears into the palm of my hand. I prefer a gun that points naturally at the target without any manipulation from me and one with a comfortable grip. The M&P and Walther PPQ do that for me. The Walther has the added benefit of a very fast reset. Both will last me a lifetime which right now is probably not much of a claim. LOL

All the Best

Bob
