MP5s get replaced by Beretta

What's your powder and how much of it do you use ? :)

I just bought a bunch of 9mm components :yingyang: , and I'm looking to load some 147-grain Hornady XTP a little hot for my Sub-2000.....;)

I've just been using the 147 grain Winchester law enforcement practice ammo at this point. I ran a box of Winchester white box and it seemed pretty accurate out of this setup. This ammo accually was more accurate in mine than the Law enforcement stuff. Linefosights shot some 147 Winchester hollow points I had, very well. Not enough range time with this carbine to really say. I've been shooting mostly 22LR with some .308.

Since 9mm is fairly cheap and at times I get some for practice or can buy it at a discount for practice I haven't started reloading for it yet. That being said I think I should start.

Pardon my ignorance  , but do LEO's usually use 147-grain ammunition ? :yingyang:

For that matter, what bullet-weight is used by the military ?

The RCMP uses 147 hollow points for duty ammo and 147 FMJ for practice.

With Lineofsights Non restricted CX4 it also seemed to like 147. We have the same barrel.

I'll try out some other bullets later on. Then to some reloading. Time seems to be the main issue these days. I used to shoot every other week. Not as much these days. :(

it be new prohib meaning you cant have it..

I bought my CX4 Storm at a store that a member of this forum worked at. I asked him "Do you know why I'm buying the Storm"? When he asked why, I told him "Because I can't buy a MP5"!!

I actually really like the Storm. It has a couple flaws such as the web on the stock and the hooded sights but otherwise it's a nice firearm. Well thought out and the internals are a large block of steel unlike the myth that it's all "plastic" which seems to go around the net. But... An MP5... Sorry no contest on which one I would rather have. I'd take the MP5 any day.

I think the CX4 Storm is an unreliable rifle with crap ergonomics.

I found the biggest issue was over-lubrication.

Guys were slathering on oil like it was strawberry ###-lube.

Unfortunately, peak reliability was only ever attained with very marginal coverage. Anyone use the Remington lube-wipes? Yeah. Cut one of those in half, and leave the mechanical bits like the bolt as the last items to wipe down.

This is really odd, as the CX-4 is a blowback... You'd think the more lube, the better, but nope...

G96 lathered on and let to soak, for months while in storage. Then a small amount of Rem oil. No reliability issues so far. Also it seems to like the heavier ammo. Mine was ok with lighter ammo but I have seen some weak ejection with the 115 grain stuff.

Everyone (including me) would no question get the MP5 (hell, just for the cool factor alone)

but let's be realistic, India probably paid 1/3rd for the Beretta contract of what they were paying Heckler & Koch to buy them or license them, HK doesn't exactly make affordable weapons.. an MP5 generally goes for what, around 4-5k ?
