MRA renegade and Spectre ballistics builds

You can quickly resolve this by dropping in a thin washer in the charging handle before dropping in the Allen head screw. It'll take up just a little of the screw length and will tighten down without any play. I've done it on three builds so far and all have worked out perfectly.

This is what was done, and it’s good now. Thanks !

Im looking at buying a new barrel, anyone have any experience with ballistic advantage barrels? Looking to spend $300-$400

Here is mine..
Brigand arms "blade" handguard
Odin works CQS stock
12.5" Balistic Advantage 6.5 grendel barrel..
Triggertech Competition trigger.
StrikeEagle 1-8 in Aero Prescision mount.
Luth AR grip
Light weight brake with blast shield (colonel Mustard)
( HK 5.56 mag, just for a picture)

Beautiful rifle.

Do you mind to tell me how much she weight with or without optics?

Thanks

My Renegade arrived today and I got it mostly built. Just waiting for the brake I got off the EE to arrive. Bonus #1: the lower is threaded for a tensioning screw. I was able to scavenge the one out of my Aero lower so the fit between the upper and lower receivers is nice and tight. Bonus #2: the receiver is milled for a short throw safety. I wasn't sure about that one but my Radian Talon ambi 45/90 safety works great.

Sad that it has to come to this but at least I'll be shooting 3-gun this year.

I got my trigger group and mag release installed this morning without losing any springs or detents, miraculously. I checked headspace with the bolt and No-Go gauge - should be good to go. I’m kicking myself for being a cheapskate and picking up a 20” heavy barrel on clearance instead of ordering an 18” pencil barrel from IBI. I suppose one of the advantages of the platform is that you can swap parts out to suit your needs and bank account standings. It’s not much to look at now, but I’ll post a picture or two once all my parts arrive.

I hear you. I just used a cheap 16" DPMS light profile barrel that I have on hand (came off a DPMS Oracle). The barrel weighs 1 Lbs 12 Oz and the empty rifle as it sits right now is 5 Lbs 10 Oz without a magazine or optic. I'd like a lighter barrel but can't really justify it at this point. Not that there's much available anyways.

If anyones looking for a cheap barrel arms east has reconfigured acr barrels for $150, picked one up for my build.

I have a 16" 223 Wylde, I'm still working up a load for 55, and 75 gr Projectiles, but I've had about 3/4 MOA performance from a load worked up for another Rifle (55 V-Max/W748). It was well machined, and looks like it's sub MOA with the right ammo, no complaints.

Just completed my Renegade build. 16" DPMS barrel in 5.56 with a MRA handguard and muzzle brake. Geissele Single Stage Precision trigger, 2 Lbs 10.8 Oz 10-pull average. Topped with a Burris RT-6 mounted in an Aero Ultralight mount. Weighs in at 7 Lbs 6.9 Oz as pictured with an empty magazine. This will be my 3-gun rifle for 2021.

I'm working on a NEA 7.62 x 39 rifle and can't get the barrel nut off. I know that the torque should not have been much more than 35 foot pounds, but my 175 lbs on a one-foot wrench won't move it. The next step is to use a Dremel and cut the nut off, but I'm not sure if the nuts from 7.62 x 39 are compatible with those used on a 5.56 receiver. I have a SBI receiver kit and new barrel nut. I think I'll be fine replacing the nut with one for a 5.56. Any comments?

Try giving the end of the wrench a good tap with a hammer.

I had a Bushmaster upper that actually broke some of the lugs off the barrel nut trying to remove it. Put some heat to it with a torch and try again.

Heat with a Torch will probably work, but I'd be careful, after all the Upper may not be junk yet...

I was successful by using a heat gun and a wet rag that I put in the freezer for a few hours. I set my heat gun to high, got it nice and hot, stuffed the frozen rag into the chamber area, gave the nut one more blast of heat, and it popped right off.

One foot wrench...a bit more length might be helpful, my bar is about 24".

Run some penetrating oil around the nut and let it soak in for awhile before resuming the attack.

Thanks for your replies!
I have tried penetrating oil and a little bit of heat with no success. I guess I will have to be more aggressive and get a longer wrench.
BTW, my original question is whether the barrel nut used for 7.62 x 39 is the same as for 5.56. I have a spare and really didn't want to damage anything with too much heat.
