Muzzle Brake for AR

Would there be any possibility of having a custom extended version of this muzzle brake made? Or possibility of combining compensator with muzzle brake (thus extending)? I'd like to add an extra 5.1cm to my carbine barrel (which is a 29.2cm Sabre Defence barrel).

Why do you want to add 5.1cm?

I have a 12" piston AR from LMT . How big are the chances of having a non concentric thread or what are the chances of accuracy being affected if i put a PWS brake on it ?

Must be lucky

A PWS brake on my 10 " Stag AR seems to improve the accuracy due to less de-stabilizing gas at the base of the bullet as it exits the bore.
With absolutely no wind It can shoot under 1 " at 200 yds.

Actually pretty amazing considering the projectile only gets one spin with a 1in 9 twist -

I think dollar for dollar the PWS 556 FH is the best out there right now. PWS make very well thought out products and the best piston upper, yup even better than the HK :)

Stay tune to my website for a series of videos on the Vais brake. We will be comparing the brake to a few different styles available on the market today. I will be doing decibel meter, muzzle lift and gas discharge tests.

What sound meter are you using? If it has a rise time of more than 30 microseconds, it will produce useless data. The noise peak will pass before the sound meter can react to actually measure all of it.

My KAC rifle has had a Triple Tap Costa brake on it for over one month, it works as advertised and keeps you on target during rapid fire. On the same page my Surefire brake works very well also, and it does it for alot less money. That being said it is not made from super uber cool material though, with the KAC brake and your vertical grip being placed far forward on your rail sytem it is a difficulty combination to beat for fast/rapid/accurate shot placement. My TRG 42 rfile also has a Surefire muzzle break and it works unbelievably well, just do not be beside it or directly behind the shooter - as it will suck out your fillings or make enemies of all your friends who decided to shot with you that day.

Costa shooting our SR16E3 CQBR with Triple Tap.

Edit the Magpul Dynamics SR15E3's and Jerry Barnharts's SR15E3's with Triple Taps just don't move.

The 11.5" does not move much, but when you combine it with the soft shooting SR15E3 - the gun does not go anyway. Anyone can make incredible splits.

As expensive as the Triple Tap is... seeing the performance of it is impressive. Once you start getting into things like UBRs, ACOGs, Short Dots, etc I don't believe it's too ridiculous for what you get. A lot of optics will cost you more, and in the case of the Short Dot, more than double that.

But what makes the AR system so appealing (at least for me) is the near infinite combinations of accessories and offerings from manufacturers that allow you to build a rifle to your specific taste and purpose. You can make it as expensive or frugal as you want to.

Kevin or anyone else who would know: Does the Triple Tap permanently darken with use or what? I was watching Costa do his quick and dirty clean on disc 3 of AotTC and it still looked fairly black-ish, but it didn't appear to be cleaned directly so I dunno... They look awfully shiny and reflective brand new...

Rifles are $750USD and the brake is $450USD....it is ridiculous for what you get.
It works good...but not for over triple the price of something else.

Good info, I am trying to source a meter for testing right now. I have found meters with 125 millisecond response time, far greater then the 30 microsecond you recommend. Before I take someones advice I like to know what qualifications they have to dispense said advice. Do you have an engineering background? Have you worked with sound measurement before, if so can you recommend a sound meter?

If you check out Mil Std 1474D, I believe it specifies the meter rise time in there.

Otherwise I get my advice from Al Paulson and Phil Dater (Gemtech), two of the most knowledgible and experienced people on the sound testing of firearms and silencers in the world. Paulson's first book lists the specifics of the sound test protocol on page 85. Gemtech sells a booklet on the sound measurement of firearms and silencers on their website.

I have done extensive sound testing of firearms and silencers with Al Paulson (Silencer History and Performance Vol 1 and 2) and John t**sworth (Silencer Research website).
