Muzzle device opinions/experiences for SBR...

I had a Griffin Armament M4SDII on my 12.5" AR and it worked really well. I've moved it over to a MK18 wannabe but haven't shot it as yet. I liked it so much that I bought the 30cal version for my 300BLK MK18.

You never disaapoint Trini :d

Which do you like the AR/223 Optics or Comp4?

Haha, I am to please. As for optics, that's a Aimpoint Patrol Pro. Between the two, the Aimpoint rocks for fast target acquisition, clear glass, unlimited eye relief and crazy battery life. The Bushnell 1-4x has surprisingly clear optics but the downside is that there is a bit of barrel distortion and it's more like 1.25x than 1x. Overall, it's a pretty solid performer for the price.

Supposedly, this set-up from Lantac is going to be available this year. To those of you who went to SHOT, have you seen this brake/blast shield set-up? If so, any info would be much appreciated.

Here's another couple of pics...

Thanks bruddah. Damn, that shield looks real good, double so if it worked with other brakes other than Lantac comps/brakes. Time to hit Google... :)

I run flash hiders exclusively on all my AR's, especially SBR's which are running Blackout flash hiders.

For me comps pretty much all have negative effects on the muzzle, even the A2 and especially on SBR's, pushing it down on each shot, one of the worst being the BattleComp, I have no use for a brake since the AR is a fairly soft recoiling gun and I don't want to be a jerk at the range, so I stick to flash hiders which offer the most stable muzzle solution in my experience (apart from pure brakes which I have no use for).

Compensators are a band-aid fix to a problem that doesn't exist, muzzle rise in AR's. AR's have a longitudinal recoil impulse right in the centerline of the bore, that is, they recoil straight to the rear. What makes AR's exhibit muzzle flip/rise is poor shooting stance and a lack of training.

This thread really hurts my head. So much misinformation and bullshQt put out by muzzle device manufactures.

It would refreshing to see some of these dudes actually do some research before putting mouse to CAD program.

Muzzle devices should be designed based on barrel length. Period. If the manufacturer says their device is a one size fits all solution, well, buyer beware.

well surefire doesnt know their #### then shut it down.

I have a Lantac Dragon on my 12.5" I'm not well liked on the range. Its an awesome brake and compensator, but the side blast is enormous. I am comparing it to the PWS Triad and FSC556 which I had on before. The flash is bigger, but really improves compensation. Its ok if you are in 3 Gun, but static bench shooting when your buddy is beside you is terrible. I just ordered the Griffin blast shield so I will let you know what it is like when I try it at the range.
