My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Well, I am just about ready to put a couple more of my rimfires into this thread.

I purchased a very nice Remington M37 from a gunnut on here, but am busy making up a non drill or tap scope mount base for a modern scope.
the original "long-tube" Redfield 20X is not up to todays standards of optical quality.

I will also try to see if my CZ 452 American will qualify.

I sold the Mossberg 144LSB, so will not be trying it, obviously, lol.

Regards, Dave.

I just wish our club had a 50 yard range . Rifle shooting has been reduced to
hunting rifle sight in , with 3 1/2 benches to shoot from . No proned , sitting ,
kneeling or standing positions to shoot from .

How far north in Northern Ontario are you? Got to be crown land at least you can set something up on.

Our club offers indoor and outdoor pistol ranges , skeet , trap and sporting clay . Bow shooting
has grown in popularity also with an indoor range , outdoor range and a course of foam animals
through the woods . Target rifle shooting seems to have been left behind . We have a very old
outdoor range with 25 ,100 , and 228 yard target buts . The shooting hut used to have , I think ,
12 shooting positions but it has been walled off to 3 1/2 positions . The rest of the hut is storage
for foam animal targets . We have been promised a 50 yd range but it has not materialized yet .
I am located on the Canada US border between Lakes Superior and Huron .
The bush is a little dense , not a lot of open area to shoot . I am going to drive the logging roads
looking for clear cuts to shoot in . I shoot mainly in the US now , more people are interested in
rifle shooting there .

Just heard about this thread, very interesting! Some real nice rigs/shots out there.

This picture and attempt was taken before i saw this thread, and my attempt didn't fully comply with the rules, but this is my 5 shot group (minus the flyer' at the bottom) at 50 yards using my custom Ruger 10/22 and a 3-9x40 scope. The barrel is an 18" Green Mountain .920 bull barrel with Benzt match chamber and recessed target crown. The group was not measured with calipers as you can see, but i placed a tape measure (only thing we had at the time) to get an idea. It appears the group is between 1-1.5cm

Nice set up, and awesome looking country in the background. Now the trick is getting 5 groups back to back like that on the same piece of paper :)

Guess I'm going to have to scope my BSA if I want to play this game! Struggling to get 1 to 1 1/2 inches with it at 50 yards. Using winchester T22 standard velocity, may try some of the types recommended here first. Just wondering how much of a difference I can expect with Lapua or Eley ammo?

I've never had much luck with T22 in a rifle. CCI standard, RWS target have worked well. What part of Ontario you from?
Scott...

Hi Scott,
I'm in Newmarket, a buddy of mine has some match ammo that I will try next. I need some practice with open sights so I don't want to scope this rifle just yet.

You almost need to call around to see who has what. Al Simmons did have a good selection of entry level target ammo but last time I was in there they were low on stock.
